#WhatMidwivesWant The impact of Covid-19 in rural areas is detrimental to women and children. Women have a hard time accessing healthcare for fear of contracting the virus. Unintended pregnancies are occurring, because women are fearful of being exposed to the virus at healthcare facilities where contraceptives are dispensed. This fear largely leads to inaction, resulting in undesirable outcomes, eg. stillbirth, neonatal and maternal death. #MidwivesMatter #BetterBirths #COVID19 #Midwifery #MidwivesSaveLives

#WhatMidwivesWant 1 in 4 midwives reported that COVID-19 had an impact on their ability to meet financial obligations, such as housing payments and utilities. Additionally, midwives have to provide themselves on their own personal protective equipment (PPE). Midwives must be provided with PPE regardless of work environment, along with proper training for correct PPE usage!... Funding must be prioritized for maternal health services and resources for midwives’ associations to support midwives! See more
