Matrix Subspace - the student-led branch of UVic's Matrix Institute for Applied Data Science - is happy to invite you to the first entry in our seminar discussion group series! This series will dig in to the topics presented in Matrix Institute seminars providing opportunities for students from varying disciplines to share opinions, ask questions, and discuss how those topics relate to their own fields ...of study and Data Science at large. Our first discussion will be hosted on Thursday, October 31 from 12pm to 1pm in ECS 467 for the seminar: What Every Software Engineer Ought to Know About Data Science Dr. Greg Wilson Abstract Engineering has been defined as the use of the scientific method to design and build new things, but software engineering courses rarely require students to conduct experiments or analyze data. This talk describes what such a course would look like, what its benefits would be, and how we can get there from here. We hope to see you there!
