12.17.2016 Today, we celebrated 4 years of marriage!! Crazy. We still feel like babies at this whole marriage thing (well, maybe cause we kinda are but Matt is 27 now and that’s closer to 30 so there’s that). But we always tell couples that we learnt SO much about what it means to be a wedding photographer by being a bride and groom ourselves.... 1. Our photographer @lainemostert was AMAZING and we will never stop raving about how incredible she is as a person and as a photographer. After we came in from taking photos, mine and maid of honours feet were in so much pain from being in the snow. She literally took a bucket of warm water and washed our feet. Like WHAT?! This is such an example of what kind of photographers we want to be on a wedding day. 2. I’m so thankful that our photos are truly timeless. In years to come, I am so confident that I will become even more and more in love with our photos. This is something we strive to do every wedding! 3. We hired someone that we felt comfortable with and could fully depend on creatively on the wedding day. It made those truly intimate moments even that much more comfortable. And I knew that with Laine behind the camera, we would get the most beautiful + creatively captured moments we could! Those are just a few things we are so thankful to have experienced and learnt from being a bride and groom ourselves! When looking for a photographer, it’s so important to check those things off the list. ______________ Also, THANKS SO MUCH AGAIN @lainemostert FOR LETTING US RELIVE OUR DAY SO BEAUTIFULLY EVERY SINGLE YEAR

THE KERN’S Honestly, we’re so speechless when it comes to describing what yesterday was. Syd is a dear friend of Morgan’s, as they grew up playing soccer and basketball together, and went to the same high school. So getting to watch and capture photos on Syd and Brodie’s wedding day was beyond special.... From writing personal letters to every single guest, to eating last and being the ones who bring the guests their food, and to hearing story after story on how selfless Syd + Brodie are in every single speech, truly represents who they are together. Love you guys, and BIG CONGRATS!!

Happy Father’s Day! _____ After our last post, a friend of ours helped recognize that because of systematic racism, there are families of the BIPOC who could be prevented from the opportunity to afford family photos. So, with today being father’s day (a time that many people are taking and posting family photos), we have decided to hold a day of mini sessions completely offered by donation given towards @black_connections.... Starting today, you can book a mini session with us on Saturday July 4th, with your family or loved one! These mini sessions are completely by donation and 100% of the donations will be given to @black_connections in their efforts to educate, highlight, and cultivate black culture in Abbotsford. _____ Details: * 25 Minute Mini Session * Saturday July 4th* Aldergrove Regional Park * 45+ Hi Res Edited Photos* By donation + 100% of donations go towards @black_connections * Limited spots available, DM or e-mail [email protected] to book

A few weeks ago, we took a moment to look at our Instagram feed. But this time, we saw our feed differently than we had seen it before... Specifically, we saw photos that we had chosen to post, chosen to amplify, and chosen to represent. In that, we saw an overwhelming underrepresentation of black people and an overrepresentation of white people. ... To say that this humbling realization was both embarrassing and extremely disappointing is an understatement. Don't get us wrong, we absolutely LOVE every person we get to capture and share photos of. But our hearts are saddened that our feeds (and the wedding industry as a whole) predominantly shows one ethnicity. Even worse, to be doing this unintentionally echoed the privilege we have as white people. ________ We do not in any way believe that racism is okay. We also believe that as a business, we have a unique opportunity to help combat overt and subtle racism in the wedding industry. So as your local photographers and videographers, we have chosen to make some changes around here: 1) On social media, we are going to do our best to represent the black community (or people of all ethnicities for that matter) in our feed. If we notice that we are predominately getting booked with mainly white families and couples, you can bet that we'll seek out couples or families of colour to help showcase greater diversity in our feed. 2) We are going to find other local wedding vendors, or photographers/videographers to recommend, that are owned by black people. We hope to help amplify the voices and names of black business owners specifically in the wedding industry. 3) We are going to continue educating ourselves, relearning, listening, and leaving our pride at the door. If you're looking for somewhere to donate, we have personally decided to donate to @black_connections, a local club in Abbotsford that work to highlight and cultivate Black culture in our community. ________ We know that these are small actions in a better direction to help communicate that black lives matter. But any action is better than no action. Racism, in any form, is NOT okay. See more

This bride giving all the Iceland feels. Not gonna lie, we usually tear up (especially Morgan) behind the camera while shooting weddings. But truly, these elopements during COVID have us tearing up on another level. We can hardly wait to share all the moments that made us emotional over the past few weeks .
