This year's tax exemption forms are now available. If you are considered low income, you have the opportunity to save some money on your primary property's tax.

Ground Search and Rescue is a valuable resource to all of our communities. They rely almost entirely on fundraising to ensure that they have the newest gear, and to maintain their building and equipement. They need our help as much as our communities have needed theirs. Take the time to do ate through Carl's Store, or contact them at (902) 742-6285 to discuss ways to donate whether it is through monetary donations, or by joining. Thank you Carl's Store for taking the time to do this, and thank you GSAR and all the volunteers who have been very active these past few weeks.

Make sure to check the mail for your property assessments. This is the data that determines your property taxes and it'll give you time to appeal if you feel that the assessment is incorrect.

Recently, Cst. Greg Bowie with Yarmouth South West Traffic Services and Carleton Country Outfitters in Carleton teamed up to fill a cruiser with donations for t...he new local food bank. The weather may have been disappointing but the public's generosity was quite the opposite! Within 20 minutes of the event starting, the police cruiser was full and the RCMP had to call for back up from the Carleton fire department. Cletus, the store owner's dog, kept everyone's spirits high and by the end of the event, $1,200 was raised and there were enough donations to fill two police cars and two fire trucks. The RCMP and Carleton Country Outfitters would like to thank the volunteers, businesses and the public who helped make the event a huge success. See more

Wow, what a great turnout for the Fill the Cruiser at Carleton Country Outfitters. Community spirit is alive and well in our region! Thank you Greg Bowie, and S...amantha Bowie for coming up with the idea and standing in the rain collecting donations. Thank you to Jennifer Cunningham and Carleton Country Outfitters for allowing the use of your location and challenging local businesses to help feed the needy. Thank you to Craig Thibodeau for bringing out the Fire Trucks to fill as well. Also, thank you to Jonathan Cann for the spontaneous help with loading, unloading and organizing as well. The biggest thanks of all though goes to the community for all of the donations, no one is going hungry anytime soon! See more

Come by Carleton Country Outfitters and help out your local community! There are folks around who are in need all year long. Let's stock the pantry so anyone who needs it will have access all year round! It's the season for giving.
