There are things that are beyond our controI and yesterday I was reminded of this. Being an independent musician in this digital world has a lot of ups and downs. After a lot of anticipation of releasing my new single, Easy Way Out, the distribution platform I use sent my song to the wrong profile on all streaming services. While I was fairly upset about this yesterday, I am still very grateful for this song, what it means to me, and hopefully what it will mean to others. ... Some of you may go ahead and dig around to find it, but I will be holding off sharing it on social media until the song finds its proper online home. Easy Way Out. The second single off my full length album will be released on all streaming platforms this Tuesday. I am very proud of this song. It has been over ten years in the making. Thinking about the journey this little song has taken in my life reminds me that dreams take a while to achieve, they often look different at the start and finish, but never silence your inner voice to dream. I first conceived of writing this song in 2010 as a way of calling out my flaws th...rough a perceived lens of three romantic characters. The ex-girlfriend, the current girlfriend, and the desired girlfriend. Each verse represents a voice of these three women lamenting how the choice of repairing, committing, or exploring a relationship with me was too difficult and therefore have settled to the take the easy way out. Twelve years later and I am finally sharing this song with the wider world and what is behind the catchy hook. The struggles I had then and writing Easy Way Out as a device to work through my youthful relationship issues seems like a distant memory. Listening to this song now brings me the same warmth as flipping through an old photo album. I hope it brings you some warmth this week. Be well out there Matthew James Morgan

A break is good sometimes. It allows for regrowth and renewal. Just like the seasons, life has it’s cadence. I have been away from social media for a month to focus on myself, my life, and my dreams. I'm so excited to share with you all my brand new video for my first single "Marguerite". This video was filmed earlier this year in Nicaragua by my talented friend @philipp_schonweitz. This beautiful country is the lead character in this video that's been a long time in the making.... It's an ode to my grandmother and all of our relatives of past. Wow. What a whirlwind. I feel so overwhelmed by the support and love. Wednesday night I held an album release party. It was the culmination of years of hard work and dedication and thank you so much to all who made it out. Breathe in, breathe out. Sometimes you forget to listen to yourself. This past year has taught me a lot about trusting the process. Trusting that all things are constantly changing and evolving, and while we have the ability to steer our intentions and actions to obtain an outcome, nothing is certain. Success and failure become these colossal internal boulders we pinball between, forgetting they are merely slalom poles in the adventure sport called life. I have been sitting ...on this new album for too many months. When I think about it, I am still nervous to share it, worried I’m never doing enough to further my career, and procrastinating in doing so many behind the scene pieces of creating an artistic project that it becomes overwhelming. But then I remember to breathe and trust myself. Be well out there. Matthew James Morgan

Look out! It’s finally happening. December 3rd I will be releasing a brand new single called Marguerite. I feel both excited and nervous about it all. From a song I wrote about seven years ago, to recording it on analog with the help of Bengal Cat Sounds in the summer of 2020, to making a music video for it in Nicaragua. It has been a rollercoaster of emotions, from self doubt to tears of joy, and everything in between. I am so thankful to all the special people that have helped me along the way and continue to support me in this journey.

If you go back far enough in time, everybody was a farmer. People rose with the rooster and worked past the setting sun. When we were brainstorming video shoot locations, the idea that my not so distant ancestors grew up on a farm was always in mind. We drove up a dirt road to a little village called El Tambo. Here we met Doña Lupe and her husband who run a beautiful farm in the hills. ... They were the most gracious hosts and let us set up a little concert in the stables. Hola from Nicaragua! Last night was the first time I was able to perform on stage and play a couple of songs for a live audience. It felt absolutely blissful and I hope it brings some joy to your Sunday.

I've always wanted to make a record that comes straight from my heart. This record is an ode to my love of blues, country, rhythm and soul, as they're a nod to the melting pot from where I grew up. I believe that being vulnerable and open about who I am speaks to others and that's why I’ve decided to use my full name for my art moving forward. Thank you Jessica Rauch for the help with my new artwork, and thank you to all my friends, family, and fans for your continued support.
