Hello March! . . . Anyone else excited to say goodbye to February & welcome in longer days, warmer weather and new opportunities?!... . . . The start of a new month for me always feels like a fresh start. I like to start by first reflecting on my accomplishments from the previous month, and then look at areas where I fell short. To truly know where you are at, awareness is the first step to making a change. If you didn’t accomplish what you were hoping for, why not?! What obstacles and barriers did you encounter? What things do you have control over that you can change moving forward? . . . One of the biggest challenges I see my clients facing is not having an action plan. We all have goals, we all have things we want improve, and we are often highly motivated. So why do we end up never accomplishing what we want most?! . . . We need to begin each month not only with new goals; but with a solid action plan detailing the steps we are going to take to be successful at achieving those goals. . . . #march #newmonth #goals #goalsetting #actionplan #mindset #achieveyourgoals #begintoday #wellness #wellnessjourney #fitness #fitnessmotivation #health #pilates #pilatesinstructor #pilatesstudio #pilateseveryday #mindfulness #mindfullmovement #insipration #inspirechange #mavenfitness #kitchenerwaterloo See more

Today is #bellletstalk . . Now more than ever it is so important to take care of our mental health & well-being. .... . As I was reflecting on my own mental health over this past year, I would be lying to say that I haven’t struggled. It’s been an extremely tough & challenging year for all of us. I started off the year with big dreams & high hopes. Then being laid off for 6 months, starting my dream business (which was completely new to me), growing my business to new heights, then finally ending the year back in a lockdown & closing my studio doors. Needless to say, I went through a rollercoaster of emotions - from being sad, angry, anxious, excited, stressed, overwhelmed, lost. . . This year more than ever I began to prioritize my mental health. I become more self-aware of my thoughts & feelings and began listening to what I needed. Meditation & journalling have now become part of my routine in my healing journey to help me work through my anxieties by giving me clarity. I have also relied on my close family & friends when I’ve needed to just cry or talk it out. I stopped hiding my inner struggles, I stopped hiding my pain, I stopped hiding who I really am. There is nothing more freeing than releasing the chains that are holding you down, by being completely transparent & accepted for WHO you truly are. You are not flawed, you are human . . So today let’s #endthestigma around mental health and begin to show up for ourselves & the people surrounding us. Let’s continue the conversations and lift each other up to support & empower our mental well-being! @alexdekkerphoto #mentalhealth #mentalhealthawareness #mentalhealthmatters #awareness #iamworthy #selflove #mindfulness #healingjourney #innerwork #freeyourmind #youareenough

Prioritizing to reduce overwhelm I’m sure everyone is feeling a bit overwhelmed & stressed these days. Many of us are dealing with having new responsibilities & needing to find creative ways to accomplish the same tasks. You might even feel like you are working from the moment you get up to the very moment you go to bed. When this happens we get overwhelmed & disorganized as we are trying to do a millions things at once. At the end of the day we end up feeling unaccomplishe...d, depleted, and dreading to have to do it all again tomorrow. Instead, begin each day by breaking down your to do list & prioritizing each task from 1-3. Start by completing the tasks that are labelled as top priority, next moving onto the items that are ranked as lower priority (only if energy & time permits). We are often the one who put additional pressure & stress on ourselves to get everything done in a day. When In fact we probably only need to do about 50 percent of what we are actually doing. Tips to maximize your productivity Create a daily & weekly schedule - break down the day into working hours and fill each block of time with specific tasks Set a time limit - only work on each task for the amount of time you allotted to complete it in. Then move on! Focus on one task at a time - eliminate distractions & don’t think think about the million other things you think you need to do in your day. flexibility - allow yourself to be flexible. Things will come up that are beyond our control. Move tasks that are a lower priority to another day - remember there is always tomorrow! Delegate - what tasks can you assign to others? Don’t take so much on and ask for help whenever possible! Schedule in breaks - go for a walk, move, read, refuel! Give your body & mind a chance to breathe Always schedule you time as priority #1 - whatever you enjoy doing most, make the time for it. I promise you that you will thank yourself! Lastly, always remember that you are doing the very best that you can! Take a moment to pause today, take a few deep breaths, calm your mind & find reason to be grateful #prioritizeyourself #priorities #mindfulness #mindset #pilates #wellness

Obliques Roll Back Did you know that you have an internal & external oblique muscle pair? The obliques run along the sides of your torso and primarily act to flex & rotate the spine. Having strong obliques helps to not only stabilize the spine & pelvis but also helps in force transmission between the upper & lower body during a variety of activities. This exercise focuses on strengthening your obliques! ... Exercise tips Begin by sitting up tall with weight equal across your sit bones Focus on tucking the bum under on roll down to create a sense of opening through the front of the hip joint Deepen abdominals to flex the lower spine on roll back Allow rotation to come from the rib cage - keep pelvis forward & square Keep shoulder blades stabilized and arms long Eye gaze follows the direction of the hand Stay connected & inspired #obliques #obliqueworkout #obliquesrollback #core #corestrength #coreworkout #coreexercises #coretraining #pilates #pilatescore #pilatesbody #pilatesinstructor #matwork #pilatesmat #pilatesmatworkout #bodyweightexercises #bodyweightworkout #fitness #fitnessmotivation #fitnessjourney #wellness #healhyspine #inspiration #mindfulness #mindfulmovement #movment #exercise #pilatestudio #mavenfitness #kitchenerwaterloo
