Mavericks Water Polo Club

The Mavericks want to extend a huge congrats to Alex James on his monumental achievement. The herd is incredibly proud of you, and thank you for inspiring the generations to come. My water polo journey began when I was in eighth grade, which is late compared to most players. I was transitioning from hockey, which has similar positions, so I found that I was able to understand the game quickly. I developed quickly due to a combination of loving the game and hard work. After... my first season, I was fortunate enough to play on Team Ontario. As the youngest and least skilled player on the roster, I was driven to learn more about the game and work harder to become a better player. I joined the Mavericks full-time after my second season. A combination of factors, such as increased pool time, varied coaching and playing in multiple age groups stimulated another period of incremental growth. I have been fortunate to play for Team Ontario Ontario Water Polo in multiple seasons and to proudly represent Canada Water Polo Canada at the Youth Pan Am Games in 2019. I’m beyond excited to be going to Harvard, and want to thank my teammates, coaches and parents for their role in getting me to this point of my water polo career.
