#INNOVATION ZONE: The business and political communities of the Haut-Richelieu region are united to submit a business plan in September to the Ministry of Economy and Innovation (MEI). The objective? To ensure that the region is selected to become an innovation zone specialized in civil and public security. The innovation zones that the MEI will set up will have the role of attracting talents, entrepreneurs, major clients as well as researchers around a specific theme. These ...areas must also offer a diversified environment conducive to quality of life and well-being. The government is expected to announce the first zone this fall. It is an ambitious project which will create wealth and which will be a model of sustainable development. For us, it is about the economic survival of the Haut-Richelieu region, said Yvan Berthelot, interim mayor of Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu. INNOVATION ECOSYSTEM Entrepreneurs from the region had the opportunity to visit an innovation ecosystem in Israel as part of an economic mission. The innovation zone that the group wishes to set up is inspired by this vision and has been adapted to the realities of the Haut-Richelieu region. "Working in an innovation ecosystem is probably the most efficient way for companies to achieve this, especially in a context where it is necessary to renew ourselves", explains Véronique Tougas, president of Groupe Cambli - Cambli Group, vice-president of NexDev - Développement économique Haut-Richelieu and administrator of InnoSécur. Innovation also makes it possible to open up to the international market. Les zones d’innovation auront le rôle d’attirer des talents, des entrepreneurs, des grands donneurs d’ordre ainsi que des chercheurs autour d’une thématique p...récise. Ces zones devront aussi offrir un environnement diversifié propice à la qualité de vie et au bien-être. Le gouvernement devrait annoncer la première zone cet automne.
