True story... ... After putting on several miles at work to help the trees grow, I just didn't have a lot of go left in me when quitting time came. Still it was a lovely evening and my Ginny girl needed a hoof trim. I told myself "I bet Ginny will stand at liberty for me to trim her fronts." So, after all the chores were don I went to her and asked for her hoof. She stood in there not moving a muscle just like I had her haltered and ground tied. When I was done with the hoof and set in down, she rested her next hind for me... ... O.k. we're doing them all... ... Ginny has said so! This is the reason I take the long way with breeding and raising my own <3 Here is a picture of Ginny doing another job real well... ... Roxy the good mountain mare is still carrying from Ala Nar! July 3rd is her 340 day due date. I am expecting a super foal with great bone and endurance. I expect a shorter back and deeper heart girth as improvements on this already wonderful mare. This mare is solid and hard to fault for the job that she does :)

My Ginny girl is something else!! I am quite certain that she would qualify as an Oldenberg if she was inspected! I have no idea how this works or if it is offered in northern Alberta. Baby Misty was approached by the boss gelding and was up to make friends. I was in the circle so things were going politely. Suddenly Mamma Charm and babysitter Rozeta come out of no where and sweep baby Misty away!! Clearly she is not old enough to flirt!! It was adorable how protective they were <3

Winter is creeping up on us here in the north. I remember the days of summer and how my whole herd pulled together to raise one foal! It does take a whole village to raise a little one and here is proof!!

In 2009 my best mare gifted me with this stunning colt. I knew my life was forever changed!! My son named him Ala Nar (On Fire) and he has kept the fire going on in my herd! Ala Nar who is nic named "The Fireman" has done an excellent job for me as a sire, as a best friend and also an entertainer!! Ala Nar works for me and although his numbers are low as a sire, his get are all quality individuals and he is keeping the line for some very old and rare bloodlines. As a breed we need sires to represent the old lines. These old lines in the right hands will breed true every time!!

Roxy the Percheron/Fjord mare has officially checked back in foal based on the barn yard stallion teasing method!! There is a 90% chance she has settled. As always I will keep a sharp eye out for any changes. I think she is hatching a little fireball!! Ala Nar aka "Fire" settles his mares very easily.

This is check back week for the Percheron/Fjord mare... ... So far she is a serious "NO" when being teased. Ala Nar knows her status before she approaches his fence. I can tell how she will act by how he courts her. He can tell me more in seconds about her present situation then any vet could!! A good teasing stallion is a rock star when it comes to detecting estrus and pregnancy in mares!! If Roxy says no tomorrow then our teasing is done and based on my old horse breeding book she has a 90% chance of being pregnant!! I have always admired a smart and gentle breeding stallion... ... Guess I'm a stallion person :)
