On June 4th, Canadian Mortgage and Housing Corporation (CMHC) revised their underwriting guidelines to make it more difficult for homebuyers to insure their mortgages. The good news is they are not the only source to get your mortgage insurance with. Genworth Canada & Canada Guaranty (CMHC’s competitors) have announced, unlike the past, they are not following CMHC’s guidelines. This means you can still get your mortgage insurance approval with much easier underwriting guidelines.
