Welcoming Maggie into the MAX Team! Maggie has a Bachelor's degree in Kinesiology, during which she completed different courses in exercise physiology, personal training and weight lifting. She has a long background in martial arts, having a third degree blackbelt in Taekwondo, and has trained and competed nationally and internationally for 12 years. As well as being an athlete she also became a taekwondo coach and instructor and took her coaching certifications through Taekw...ondo Canada over 6 years ago. Maggie has taught private and semi-private lessons to students who were training to compete in blackbelt competitions and National competitions. Alongside being a taekwondo athlete, she is an equestrian rider as well and has been riding horses for 20 years. She is a skilled rider for difficult horses and has previously worked to help clients with their horses and training issues. Maggie describes her approach to training and instructing as enthusiastic and technique centered! She loves to have lots of positive energy and intensity in her classes, as she comes from a background where everyone is yelling every time they kick! She also likes to focus on good form and technique because she comes from two very technical sports, where not only are points awarded for precision, but your safety depends on it as well. Maggie loves to do anything outdoors or exercise related that makes her feel alive! Whether it is downhill skiing, mountain climbing, or dancing, she wants to be doing things that make her body feel good. That is a big part of why she loves teaching fitness, because it’s all about giving our bodies the opportunity to feel good, and to be healthy and happy doing what we love.
