The 3 Cs To make positive changes in your fitness level and body composition you need the 3 Cs: Consistency ... Clean Eating Cross-Training Consistency It is not enough to train occasionally (e.g., once every other week or even once a week). It is not enough to train intermittently (e.g., train regularly for 4-8 weeks, take a few months off, and then restart training). You need to train consistently at least 3-5 times a week for a lifetime. Likewise, it is not enough to eat clean once in awhile, or to eat clean for 2-4 weeks straight, then abandon the clean eating for a few weeks or even months, then restart clean eating. You need to eat clean at least 80% of the time - for a lifetime. Clean Eating With consistent workouts, you will certainly improve your fitness level (cardio and strength), and you will build muscle. BUT, in order to see that muscle, you need to shed the fat that is covering it through clean eating. Furthermore, clean eating will not only make you look better, but will make you FEEL better also physically and mentally. Cross-Training What do I mean by cross-training? Simply, it means engaging in a variety of sports or fitness activities (e.g., strength training, HIIT, walking, running, swimming, kickboxing, yoga, team sports etc) to make you more BALANCED in your fitness abilities and body composition, and to reduce your chances of overuse injuries.
