As we lead into our traditional Midnight madness weekend I reflect to the past seven days. 7 days ago I was being call by the press to why I was not supporting main land residents or red zone to our community. I follow the recommendations provided by the province. Stay away. Fast forward to today we had a major windstorm and we have a local case of Covid plus travel restrictions are in place for all British Columbians. ... Today the effects to provincial orders and recommendations are a reality here are Some Highlights. 1. Mask inside all public spaces. 2. Essential travel only permitted in British Columbia. 3. Households are not to cross with other Households. There is no longer your bubble of six. 4. December 7th is the date for a reevaluation by Dr.Henry if the orders stay in effect any longer. In our district we are closing the Ucluelet Community Centre and the District Office to the public. Operations of the District are normal for Public works and office employees with refined work procedures. Public trails remain open to allow residents wide open spaces. Public washrooms remain open. Our community is closed to non essential travel. I have spoken to many of our business community in the past 48 hours with the changes before our community. Many are changing how they operate to allow them to remain open during this provincial order. Residents are asked to stay at home when not at work. No travel to malls or shopping in the urban centre. Please sign up to Ukeemail for an official update from the District will be out later today. Visit Ucluelet.ca to sign up. The most accurate information is provided via ukee mail and Facebook. We need to all ensure our actions reflect what we want to outcome to be. Hand washing, 2 metre distance, using a mask at your place of work or public space and remaining calm and respectful. Thank you Ucluelet. Safe harbour We need to knuckle down follow the guidelines and weather this storm. We are built for weather and we need to weather this storm in place and at home. Thank you. Mayor Noël.

Our local crew plus crews from out of town are actively working to resolve this issue. I appreciate the communities patience during the past 24 hours. ... Once our lights are back on we still have the subject of Covid and next steps. One day at a time is how we take the curve balls coming at us. But I can’t stress enough that protecting our residents is our one and only priority. Thanks Ukee!

Here’s the wonderful team that I’ve been able to work with for the past two years. We spent the day reviewing our strategic plan from 18 months ago. The goal was to see if there’s any critical changes with the New World events that have been around us the past seven months. I am happy to report that our focus on community hasn’t changed 18 months later. I am very fortunate to have four councillors that are uniquely different BUT have a common goal of community in. th...eir thoughts. We’ve been here for the past 24 months and we plan to continue our efforts every day for the next 24. I appreciate you all.

The October 13, 2020 Regular Council Meeting lot 13 affordable housing project is before council. We are encouraging interested parties to submit correspondence or attend via Zoom, rather than in-person due to capacity issues in the George Fraser Room and COVID-19 concerns. A few changes. ... Lowered to 33 units and a larger set back off of Marine drive. ACMC Holdings LTD is proposing that the terms of the Option to Purchase be amended form the original proposal, generally as follows: The District could exercise its option after a period for 3 years (originally proposed 2 years); and The Option to Purchase would be suspended once the developer has obtained financial support registered against the title of Lot 13 from BC Housing (originally proposed to be suspended once the subdivision was registered with the Land Title and Survey Authority) I am asked often about this project and hope to see this as the step that turns the key. Thank you Ukee.

Short term rentals must follow provincial guidelines with a maximum of 5 guest in a unit. Locally we’ve been having some reports of some rentals not following this guideline. I strongly encourage and recommend compliance with the provincial mandate. We all play a role in ensuring our economy can function at a somewhat normal state. And if you do have any concerns please phone Bylaw. Thank you to those that are following the guidelines. And those that aren’t well............ There are next steps.
