ASK AND YE SHALL RECEIVE I am humbled and overwhelmed by the generosity and support provided to Community Care Apsley in support of the Be a Lifeline for Apsley Campaign. Over $70000 was raised to help our community respond to the loss of our only grocery store. This will help see us through until Sayers Foods is rebuilt. On behalf of everyone in North Kawartha THANK YOU!

Parks & Recreation To ensure public safety, and be in compliance with Peterborough Public Health recommendations and Provincial Government orders that came into... effect at 12:01 am on Saturday, April 03, 2021 (amended April 08 and April 17), the Township must close the North Kawartha, Wilson Park, and Glen Alda Community Centres, which means programs and/or services at the Community Centres will be suspended for a minimum of six weeks. This includes the Fitness Centre, the NKCC ice surface, and all other programming. Outdoor recreation amenities must be closed, which includes the beaches at Chandos and Quarry Bay, and the tennis & pickleball courts and sports field at Wilson Park. Playgrounds and boat launches remain open, but any person using these spaces must physically distance from any other person who is not from the same household. Garbage and Recycling As Garbage and Recycling Collection is deemed an essential service, the Anstruther and Haultain Transfer Stations are not affected by the new regulations, and will maintain regular hours. When exiting your vehicle at our Transfer Stations you are requested to wear a face covering and maintain physical distancing of 2 metres (six feet), to help protect the health of our Transfer Station attendants, as well as others. Curbside Collection will continue as per the normal schedule. To support physical distancing, residents are encouraged to use Curbside Collection.

A Holiday Poem The year was 2020 on a cold November morn, When little Blue Spruce was blown down in a storm.... Her people were heartsick to save Blue if they could. But they feared the worst, that she’d end up as firewood. Yet holiday magic was in the air that day, A destiny of kindling would not be her fate. An event that brought sadness and tears, Would become a centrepiece of celebration and cheers. The tree was lifted and taken so gently, To the village of Apsley, whose Heart was all ready. Little Blue Spruce has become OUR Christmas Tree, Bringing light, love and joy, to our entire community! On behalf of North Kawartha Township, I would like to thank Principal Karen Brohart, Round 2 Contracting, our hardworking Lion’s Club and all the dedicated volunteers who made this possible. Special thanks to Jim and Charlotte Empringham who gave me permission to light up the tree. I drove through this blizzard just to see it and share this wonderful story with all of you. The tree is SPECTACULAR! Merry Christmas everyone!

City of Kawartha Lakes and Peterborough County have entered into a shared service agreement for the Chief of Paramedics. Kawartha Lakes and Peterborough Count...y-City Paramedic Services have enjoyed a long history of collaboration that has positioned our teams well to examine and establish strategies of efficiency and modernization to meet the evolving role of paramedicine in Ontario. I’m very pleased to have an opportunity to serve in a coordinating role with two incredibly talented Paramedic Service Leadership Teams under the direction of visionary municipal leadership as we seek opportunities to meet the specific needs of the Peterborough and Kawartha Lakes areas, commented Randy Mellow, Chief, Peterborough County-City Paramedics. www.ptbocounty.ca/news
