Pleased to virtually meet with the Winnipeg Metropolitan Region (WMR) board and staff today to discuss the Winnipeg Metropolitan Region Plan20-50, which I’ve been advised is currently being drafted by the WMR. Plan20-50 is important as it will inform planning & development within the entire capital region for the next thirty years. Plan20-50 will grow in significance with the anticipated passage of the Province’s Bill 37, which will give historic weight & authority to a regio...nal plan. I’ve requested of the WMR board that each capital region Council (in our case, Winnipeg’s City Council) be given the opportunity to consider & formally approve the draft Plan20-50 BEFORE the Winnipeg Metropolitan Region forwards it to the Provincial government for their consideration. Today, we remember the 176 innocent people, 8 from our community, lost in the Ukraine International Airlines flight PS752 tragedy last year. Thoughts are with their families and all those grieving, and still searching for answers today. #PS752
