Cheers to the people in our zone! For the second time in three days there are no new cases in the Western Zone vein reported! The good news keeps coming as provincially there only 37 new cases announced today and 94 recoveries! There are now 787 active cases in Nova Scotia, 13 of those in the Western Zone but only six in Lunenburg/Queens. We’re not done yet and we need to keep up this pace to see this through but I want you all to recognize that what you are doing is workin...g! I am hoping the province will announce a reopening plan later this week, but as we move towards that, I want each of us to prepare to redouble our efforts to support local. If there’s an item you might want or need soon, please try if you can to wait until local shops and services reopen so we can support them. This wave has been a huge challenge and they need our help! That goes the same for each other. Support and encourage those around you. We’re all exhausted but I hope like me, you can see the finish line getting closer each day! Stay safe and remember, you’ve got this!

More good news today as we are down to single digit active cases in Lunenburg/Queens with only eight! Today the province announced 54 new cases. There are 35 new cases in Central Zone, 15 in Eastern Zone, three in Northern Zone and one in Western Zone. Testing numbers are down and the long weekends have proved to be somewhat problematic with people gathering so we’ll need a few days to see if these numbers hold but things are looking promising. As of today, Nova Scotia has...Continue reading

We have some great news today as our zone is reporting no new cases today! There are now only 11 active cases in Lunenburg/Queens and under 900 for the entire province! Well done. Today the province reported 49 new cases and just as importantly, 98 recoveries. This is also great news. We need to keep pushing and ensure that we don’t see a post-weekend bump. Keep up the great work everyone! I know it’s tiring but you’ve got this!... I am hoping the province provides a concrete plan for reopening our economy and that they convey that to us very soon. Our local businesses need and deserve that. It’s been earned through collective hard work and proven by the drastic reduction in active cases throughout the entire Western Zone! Enjoy this beautiful day and stay safe!

Another tragic day today as the province is reporting two deaths related to COVID-19. A man and woman, both in their 70s, have died in Central Zone. There have now been 79 COVID-19-related deaths in Nova Scotia. Today there are 74 new cases of COVID-19 and 103 recoveries.... There are 61 cases in Central Zone, nine in Eastern Zone, three in Northern Zone and one in Western Zone. In Lunenburg/Queens we are done by one again to only 14 active cases! Well done! I continue to get a lot of questions about travel restrictions because well, it is really confusing. I hope I can clarify things a bit. We are to stay in our municipalities when at all possible unless for essential reasons, then we are to remain in our county. For example, when shopping, if you can get your items in Bridgewater then please stay in Bridgewater. If there is something essential you need and it is not in town (or your municipality) then you can leave town to get it but please stay in the county. You CAN go to a park, trail or beach for recreation but please choose one that is close and DO NOT leave the county for that. This means if you live in Bridgewater, you can go to Crescent Beach for example. Go right there and back though. In terms of just going for a drive, this comes down to common sense. Your mental health is vital and I know some cannot walk a trail, sidewalk or beach due age or physical limitations but you need to get out. Going for a drive is fine but don’t make stops along the way and do not leave the county. With just one new case in our entire Zone we are doing really well. Let’s not do anything to jeopardize that. If we continue to stay the course, use common sense and put the safety of others first, we will come out of this stronger, safer, closer. Enjoy the rest of the weekend everyone!

Monday is council night and one of my favourite nights of the week! I love our team and am as excited today as I was the first day for what the future holds for Bridgewater! I will say that virtual meetings are not my favourite and I cannot wait to return to in-person ones.

Mixed news today I’m afraid. Sadly a woman in her 60s in the Central Zone has died related to COVID-19 and our thoughts are with that family. In some better news, there is a drop today to 64 new cases of COVID-19 with 116 recoveries. We are also now under 1000 active cases in Nova Scotia!!!! There are 46 cases in Central Zone, 10 in Eastern Zone, seven in Northern Zone and one in Western Zone.... We are really making progress in the Western Zone. Specifically in Lunenburg/Queens we now have only 15 active cases and in Annapolis/Kings, which was a big concern a week ago, are now way down to just 17 active cases! That is a big reduction there! Well done everyone! We’re making progress but that only continues if we continue to do our part. You know what to do! Have a great long weekend everyone!

Happy Monday everyone! I’ll start off this update with a quick reminder that the rapid testing site has returned for the week at Cineplex. It will run today until Friday from 2-7pm and anyone who is asymptomatic is encouraged to get a test. There is no need to book, just drop by! There are 121 new cases of COVID-19 being reported today. There are 94 cases in Central Zone, 16 in Eastern Zone, six in Western Zone and five in Northern Zone....Continue reading

Today there are 165 new cases of COVID-19. There are 138 cases in Central Zone, 16 in Eastern Zone, six in Western Zone and five in Northern Zone. In Lunenburg/Queens, we have 21 active cases. I don’t have any information if any of these include the backlogged positive cases. ... NOTE: The rapid test centre is also returning tomorrow and running until Friday May 14, from 2-7pm at Cineplex. IMPORTANT: This site is for all of Lunenburg County not just the Bridgewater area. Hundreds of potential cases are caught early through this asymptotic testing so regardless of where you live in the county, please consider getting tested. It is super quick and no appointment for this is needed. If you want to offer some time to help at the pop-up site, there are a handful of volunteer positions left. You will be provided all the PPE and training for a variety of different roles. Please call 902-930-1085 or email [email protected] with your phone number. To all the mothers out there, I hope that today you are able to relax, be pampered and are having a wonderful day!
