Hi Everyone, and Happy May! As some of you already know, we’re really exited to officially announce the launch of our new Candle Lake newsletter! The WAVE provides news and information from Council and Administration, and will be the base platform going forward to provide information from our Parks and Recreation partners, as well as other community groups.... To read the WAVE, visit the Home Page of www.Candlelake.ca and click on News Monthly Newsletter. You can also subscribe to receive The WAVE by email in the Newsletter Sign-up at the bottom of the Home Page or by contacting the Village Office at [email protected] or (306) 929-2236. Printed copies will also be available at the Village Office and in various locations throughout the community. We hope you like this first issue! If you have any feedback or ideas on how it can be improved, please let us know at [email protected] . Please remember that this is the very first issue, and we expect things to evolve a bit as we get into this, but we hope you'll all be as excited as we are!

Hi everyone! I just wanted to send a quick note regarding the coronavirus. I’m sure you’ve heard that the variants of concern continue to increase and the province has implemented new restrictions including households not mixing with one another. This is a gentle reminder that even though we are fortunate to live in a resort community with lots of open air and space, we need to follow the rules our Premier and public health experts are asking us to abide by. We are also re...ally fortunate to have a Regional Vaccination Clinic in our community. Not only can our community members take advantage of this service, the clinic is also providing vaccines to people living in our surrounding regional and northern areas. While vaccines are rolling out on a more regular pace, we need to remember that this virus is not going away until our entire population has reached herd immunity, which means about 80% of us need to be fully vaccinated. We’re getting there slowly, but in the meantime, it is crucial that we all continue to follow the public health guidelines to avoid unnecessary deaths and future lockdowns as is happening in other areas of province. Please don’t mix with other households, wear your mask in all public places, follow the safe distance guidelines, stay home if you are feeling ill, and wash your hands often. If you feel any symptoms of COVID, please visit www.saskatchewan.ca/COVID19 for more information on testing or to take the online self-assessment. Currently, those aged 48 and over can book an appointment online or by phone. The online system at www.Saskatchewan.ca/COVID19 is 24 hours a day or you can call 1-833-SASKVAX (833-727-5829). The call centre is open 8 a.m. to 11 p.m., 7 days per week. Thanks everyone and let’s all work together to keep our community safe!

As you know, when I ran for mayor, I ran on a platform of being innovative and thinking ahead. Since being elected I’m sure you’ve also noticed that council has committed some bylaw review and restructuring of bylaws and policies. This would also include introduction of some new bylaws. For all of us here at the lake, we also know that mosquitos can be significant problem from time to time in the summer, with no really effective way to control them. RVCL’s council beli...Continue reading

Surprise! Quite the blizzard yesterday. RVCL crews were out then and are out again today. Our roads are extremely icy, so I'd like to encourage everyone to please be very careful when out and about town today. Watch for equipment, and please give them lots of room so they can get this cleaned up.

Happy Friday everyone! Looks like it's going to be a great weekend. Just a few reminders going into the weekend: While the COVID-19 restrictions have been loosened somewhat (maximum 10 people per household and the same 2-3 families should be in your personal bubble), and vaccines are being rolled out slowly across the province, our public health experts are reminding us to keep following the safe distancing guidelines. ... The province's booking system for COVID-19 vaccination appointments has launched. At the present time, people aged 80 and over can now book vaccine appointments online or over the phone. Starting tomorrow, those aged 76 and over can call in. Here is the link to book online 24 hours a day: https://www.saskatchewan.ca//covid-19-vacc/vaccine-booking If for some reason, the link above does not work on Facebook, there is also a link to the system on the home page at www.saskatchewan.ca While it might take more time, you can also make an appointment by calling 1-833-SASK-VAX (1-833-727-5829). The Vaccine Call Centre is open from 8 a.m. to 11 p.m., seven days a week. If you have moved or need to make changes to your health card registration, this is the time to do it. There is a number on the back of your health card to call to make changes - it is 1-800-667-7551. We continue to use our local facilities to support the vaccine roll-out and we thank all of our workers and volunteers who are helping get our community immunized! Have a safe and healthy weekend everyone!
