A message from Dave Jones, AVRCE Regional Executive Director: Dear Parents and Guardians: Today, the province announced that at-home learning will continue until the end of May. An update will be provided before the end of the month.... Teaching and learning will continue online. Taking attendance and assessment of students’ learning will also continue. Teachers have received guidance from the Department of Education and Early Childhood Development on assessing students’ learning. Information for families is available at https://www.ednet.ns.ca/learning_at_home. You can also find information on at-home learning expectations and supports on the AVRCE website. There is still significant time left in the school year, so it is important for students to stay engaged and focused on learning as much as possible. We are seeing many great examples and hearing positive messages about at-home learning. We understand that at-home learning does come with challenges, and we appreciate the hard work of students, families, teachers and staff to keep students’ learning on track. If your child or family needs support, please reach out to your teacher or principal. They will work with you to help and can put you in touch with additional supports in the school or community as needed. We know that in-person learning is best for children’s development. We will continue to follow the direction of Public Health to determine when it is safe to return to in-person learning, and we will keep you informed as we receive information.
