Just a friendly reminder that if you’re hoping to get a European mount done, the sooner you get it to me, the better the mount will turn out! It’s important to get it free of the hide and tissue as quickly as possible. I can pick up skulls daily in Virden and Oak Lake.

If anyone has a deer head from last season still sitting in the garage, now’s the time to get it to me! Tonight’s the last hard frost so they’re not going to be smelling any fresher come May. I’ll be cleaning a batch next week and the more, the merrier! I also have a fresh batch of Skull Hookers in stock, if anyone is doing some quarantine trophy room redecorating and wants to get those Euros up on the wall!

I’ve struggled to find a good recipe to use up my skinless goose legs, but this one from Hunter Angler Gardener Cook is The One! If you’ve got some Canadas in the freezer from last fall, or if you’re planning on putting some Snows in the freezer this spring, save this recipe! If you’re using Canada goose legs instead of Snows, plan on 4+ hours cook time for tender meat. https://honest-food.net/snow-geese-lords-of-the-air/

This mount took me a lot of time and work to complete, but I’m very proud of the results. It came to me last year to be finished into a European mount, but it had been shot in the head and the skull was in splinters. Fortunately, there was enough skull plate left to build a sturdy European mount. After measuring and cleaning several donor skulls that had the skull plates removed for shoulder or antlers mounts, I found one that fit fairly closely. After a lot of hours of filling, shaping, sanding, smoothing, texturing, etching and detailing, I’m confident that you’d have a very hard time seeing that this mount is created from two deer. If you have an old skull plate or even an old padded antler mount that you’d like to see made into a European mount, I might be able to make that happen.

A buck like this really benefits from the Skull Hooker mounting bracket. The offset from the wall, swivelling mount and ability to change the angle of the skull pin allow you to show off your trophy from any angle, so no tine gets missed.

I know that bringing politics into business is generally not a good idea, but in this case, I don’t care. I’m doing it anyway. If you care at all about hunting and the shooting sports, or more importantly, if you value your current level of freedom, give this petition a read and consider signing it. This is not about an assault rifle ban (bullshit term to begin with), this is about government control and seeing what they can get away with this time. Think that search and seizures won’t happen? Think that mass noncompliance will lead to government inaction? Think again. It took a long time to get the verification email with the link that you have to click to to complete signing the petition, and make sure you check your junk mail folder.
