The DDI Montréal Residency started today! As part of the Digital Dramaturgy Initiative (DDI), this residency focuses on exploring the possibilities available f...or the transformation of theatrical work to a digital platform. With the help of Patrick Higdon and PWM's tech wizards Potatocakes, we were able to hang out on Gather where our residents learned about Direction & Web Design Presentation with Adil Mansoor And Scott Andrew. We're incredibly excited about the dramaturgical conversations we had today and can't wait to see what the week brings! Application Deadline - FRIDAY, MARCH 12TH The Manitoba Association of Playwrights (MAP) is looking for participants for a week-long Winnipeg residency workshop (June 21 to 26, 2021) exploring the integration of digital technology and expertise in early stages of story creation and project development. We are looking for projects that envision a theatrical form that synthesizes digital platforms and live performance. We invite artists and performance companies to apply with... relevant works-in-progress (early to mid-stage of development). MAP, along with our local partners Video Pool Media Arts Centre and Manufacturing Entertainment, will meet with selected artists to devise a practical workshop that best serves their project. We will provide technology, equipment, and expertise to support each project’s dramaturgical investigation. Each participating artist will receive a $750 honorarium. We’ve teamed up with some of Winnipeg’s finest artists to offer four train...ing programs that will help you learn new skills or take your work up a notch. Especially developed for Winnipeggers who identify as Deaf or disabled, these classes will help you find new ways to speak your truth. Classes will take place online. All classes are free of charge. ASL interpretation and live audio description will be made available. The workshops are: Songwriting with John K Samson, Wednesday afternoons, Jan. 20 to Mar. 10. Rap Class with Elliott Walsh (a.k.a. Nestor Wynrush), Wednesday evenings, Feb. 3 to Mar. 3. Playwriting with Trish Cooper, Thursday evenings, Jan. 21 to Mar. 11. Stand-Up Comedy with Lara Rae, Friday evenings, Jan. 22 to Mar. 5.
