May 14 was National Life Jacket Day - Red Cross Canada. Every year an average of 161 Canadians drown while boating. Of these 87% are not wearing a life jacket ...or do not have it properly secured. FAAM encourages all anglers to wear PFDs, especially young anglers anytime they are near water. For more information on water safety and how to choose a life jacket contact Lifesaving Society Manitoba.
After extensive discussions, the CWT committee has made the tough decision to cancel our 2020 season and refocus our efforts on the future, when we can all meet... on the water again. All 2020 memberships will be carried over to 2021. Eight of the planned 11 CWT qualifying tournaments have now cancelled for 2020, leaving us with too few potential events to run a cross-provincial trail. We know that event cancellations have been heart-wrenching for tournament organizers. But we thank them for acting in the interest of the health and safety of everyone in the angling community: tournament anglers, sponsors and volunteers, all of whom we consider family. We encourage you to follow the remaining tournaments on Facebook for updates on their events: Kenora Walleye Open, The Walleye Masters Cup and St Georges Voyageurs Walleye Classic. And even though the CWT will not crown champions this year, that does not mean we will be silent. Our promise is to build an even better season for 2021. With your help, we will find new and engaging ways to celebrate fishing and our incredible community. So stay tuned, friendseven in these difficult times, there’s so much we can do.
Good luck to all only 100 tickets available.
