Thank you to everyone who joined us at the orchard last weekend for family day activities and provided their feedback! We are looking forward to the beautiful forecast this coming weekend! Nos enfants aiment quand nos amis française nous parlent en français - ils veulent pratiqué! Our new addition (female) to the farm loves "kidding around". One of our teen helpers caught this on photo! Send us your name suggestion on Facebook and the winning selection gets to take home a pumpkin and an apple pie! We'll announce the winner Friday.

Hello Folks, we thought it was about time for an update on what’s happening on the orchard this season! Thank you for your patience. OPENING: We would love to welcome your families for U-Pick from Noon - 6 pm starting Friday September 11th. FRUIT: a combination of factors this season, including an early frost, a dry Spring/Summer and late July transition to the farm has unfortunately transpired into approximately 20-30% yield on the apple trees, no plums whatsoever and sparse... pears and grapes. Paula Red, Melba and Lobo will be available earlier with Courtland, Mac and Honey Crisp ripening a bit later in the season. PRICING: As a result of lesser quality/fewer apples this year, we have decided to reduce the U-Pick and Feeder apple pricing by approx. 20%. Premium bagged apples will be available in the apple house. We hope to have some pumpkins and fall Mums available for purchase as well. U-Pick: $10/10lb bag, $6/5lb bag, $4/3lb bag Premium Bagged: $5/3lbs, $8/5lbs, $15/10lbs Feeder/Deer Apples: $10/40lbs Current pricing for unbaked, frozen apple pies: $10 medium $12 for large FAMILY DAYS: $2 hot dogs/$3 sausages, $1 hot/cold drinks, desserts as marked. DATES: 1 - 6 pm on September 19-20th & 26-27th, October 3-4th & 10-11th THE VENUE: Please come to enjoy picture-taking, meandering through the orchard, taking in the views, and enjoying some tastes and treats of the season! The operation is adapting to Covid-19 restrictions and public safety recommendations which means some products and services will be different this year and we appreciate your patience as we navigate new territory. Keeping with the McAllister tradition, we plan to have family days, although this year they will run both Saturday and Sunday afternoons from 1 - 6 pm to allow for physical distancing. You can expect BBQ’d hot dogs/sausages, wagon/hayrides around the orchard, coffee, cold drinks, apple pies, goodies, and preserves. We will have seating areas spaced out around the property. Upcoming plans for the Spring include farm animals, free-range eggs, more activities for children, apple blossom photo-sessions and a farm stay guest house available for booking. At some point there will be a name change, although we know it will always be known as McAllister Farm to many :) Feel free to call or message us with any questions. We'll post reminders and updates. Thank you and we hope to meet you at the orchard! Tim & Jane

HAPPY CANADA DAY from our family to yours! Thank you to the McAllister family and friends for their warm welcome. As we return to beautiful New Brunswick (Tim grew up in Sussex), and start this new chapter in our lives, we will do our best to carry on The Apple Man/Paul McAllister’s legacy as community-oriented orchardists and farmers. We appreciate everyone’s patience as we get established on the farm and we will keep you updated on developments. In the meantime, we woul...d really value your input. Please share with us your top three highlights from past visits (e.g. picking, cider, wagon rides, pies?) Is there anything else you would like to see offered here or feel the community can benefit from? Looking forward to meeting you at the farm , The Baines Family (Tim, Jane, Lydia and Micah) Thank you to our daughter for her apple artistry!

Friends of McAllister Farm Thank you to all who have enjoyed and supported the farm and our family over the years and especially for the outpouring of love and support when Dad passed in December. Coupled with the concerns and stresses of COVID, this has been a trying time for us all. It has made us appreciate, even more, our friends and families. ... The legacy of the farm was very important to Dad as well as to the many families who have made visiting it an annual tradition. We are happy to pass the reins over to another family who desire to build on the foundation of previous generations. It gives us great comfort that families, including ours, will be able to continue to visit and enjoy the orchard and farm for many years to come. We would to take this opportunity to introduce you to the Baines family who are the proud new proprietors of McAllister Farm. We wish them all the best in their new family venture Thank you again Krista,Paula,Jenna and Families

Eighteen Days ago, we made a post of one of the apple trees planted from the seeds given out at Paul’s funeral. Here’s an update: The first tree has grown so much, and now three more sprouting up.

McAllister Farm 16.04.2020

Spring is upon us, and with this new season comes new life. What once lay dormant in a seed, comes to life. And for this we can be grateful to the Almighty; Creator of all things. Here is a photo of one of the seeds given out at Paul’s funeral in December. After the process of cold stratification, warm tenderness of care, and the will to live on, this McIntosh seedling has finally come to life; it’s brilliant green stem as strong as the hands of the Appleman, and the lush green leaves as gentle as his heart, are a reminder that life continues on in the lives of the next generation. A prompting to recall what was, to reflect on what is and to hope for what can be.

If you were one of our many guests over the years and contemplated life on the farm, here is your chance. What better place to self isolate, raise a family, grow your food and enjoy the view. We are sad to post this but trust the Applemans legacy will continue with another family who will enjoy it as much as we have. https://www.realtor.ca/real-estate//4460-route-108-bryenton
