Got the old girl all tuned up and ready to go. CAMPING-21 crazy times. Can’t wait to move some dirt.
Great job from Rod’s Heating. Getting everything serviced.
Can’t believe it’s still April. Road into Little McDougal is drying up nicely but the main road is starting to get rough in places. Great new day site signs from North Bay Signs.
Big thanks to Janveaux Forestry for fixing up a couple culverts on McConnell Lake road.
Lost a great camper. Roger Stewart lost his battle with cancer. Roger enjoyed camping with friends and family at Blue Lake for many years. He enjoyed early morning camp fires and his moose hunt every fall. This camp fire is for you Roger, R.I.P
Going to be a busy weekend. All day sites are fully booked. Lots of ice, firewood, worms etc. at the Blue Lake store. Be safe everyone! Happy camping!
Thanks to Jeanveaux Forest Products for grading the road just before a busy long weekend. Drive safe! Looking forward to a great long weekend.
Touching up the front part of the main road.
Many thanks to MNRF fire crew for the quick response to a small fire at Little McDougal Lake today. Also a big thank you to McConnell Lake Campgrounds staff and volunteers for putting the flames out and letting the MNRF crew secure the area. The fire was less than a km from the beach, it was small and we could safely contain it.

Store will be open July 1st, candy, ice cream, groceries, ice, worms, oil, fishing tackle and fire wood available . Things are slowly getting back to normal. Looking forward to seeing everyone this long weekend. Happy camping, Steve
Outhouses are now open! I’ll be removing the signs today, cleaning the outhouses twice a week as usual and extra on long weekends. I’ll be putting out a news letter next week including a copy of the rules, fire plan and campers agreement. No plans to change any rules but provincial guidelines regarding COVID will apply. Camper agreements will have to be signed and would also like to confirm everyone’s contact information so I can keep everyone up to date. Working on getting this grader up to camp soon just a few bugs to work out.The road is starting to get a little rough. Please feel free to contact me with any questions or concerns. Happy camping Steve
Fair warning! I was just stopped by the OPP on McConnell Lake Rd. They’ll be around this weekend make sure you have your paper work for your bikes, helmets, fishing license etc. .
UPDATE Just got the word Little McDougal and Boland are opening tomorrow. What a battle. Thanks to my contacts at the MNRF digging in the trenches to get things done. Outhouses remain closed. Social distancing in effect and the provincial guidelines for group sizes(10 people) still apply. Normal campsite rules still apply. It will be great to see everyone again. Please feel free to contact me with any questions. I’ll be busy getting ready for tomorrow. It sounds like there will be amendments to Reg. 82/20 soon.I will be taking some day site reservations possibly tomorrow depending on the changes. Finally! Happy camping Steve
Took a drive around to all sites today everything’s looking good after the storm.
Still waiting to hear from the MNRF looking like tomorrow late afternoon. This is in regards to opening little McDougal and Boland.
