It is with heavy hearts that we must announce the cancellation of the 2020 edition of the Royal Nova Scotia International Tattoo. The Tattoo has been celebratin...g the bond of friendship since 1979 never missing a beat, but sometimes the show cannot go on. Public safety and the safety of our cast, volunteers, production team and crew are our first priorities. Although it may seem premature to cancel at this time, a show as large and complex as ours with an international cast requires extraordinary lead time when planning for any scenario. Given the current unprecedented global situation and uncertainties that surround us, it is in the best interests of the Tattoo and our community to cancel the 2020 production. We had so looked forward to once again bringing our audience an awe-inspiring show. This year would have marked the Tattoo’s 42nd annual production a unique longevity that not many similar organizations have the privilege of experiencing. In the meantime, we will be working diligently from home with our trusted and valued partners including the Canadian Armed Forces, the Government of Canada, the Province of Nova Scotia, the City of Halifax to ensure a triumphant return in 2021. The dates for the 2021 edition are June 26 July 3. Stay tuned for cast announcements and tickets on sale date coming soon. All tickets purchased over the phone or online via ticketatlantic.com will automatically be refunded tickets can be destroyed. The refund could take up to 2-3 weeks. For tickets purchased in person at the Ticket Atlantic Box Office or Ticket Atlantic outlets please email [email protected] for more information. If you have purchased a ticket with a group tour, please contact your group tour operator for refunds. For those who hold complimentary and promotional ticket vouchers please hold on to these as we will honour the vouchers for tickets in 2021. School groups who have already purchased student matinee tickets will be refunded directly by the Tattoo production office and we will contact you to make refund payment arrangements. The Royal Nova Scotia International Tattoo is a registered CRA charity. For those who are able, we kindly ask that ticket holders consider making a donation in the value of their ticket(s) back to the Tattoo for a charitable donation receipt. This donation will help ensure we can continue on with our mission for years to come. To make a donation to the Tattoo please visit www.nstattoo.ca/donate. At this time, we would like to thank the public, our valued partners, volunteers, cast, crew and staff for your support and understanding. We urge everyone to take the advice of your local authorities, stay safe and look after one another.

We regret to announce that the Halifax Open Championship, Citadel Open Premiership, and HHDA Spring Competition, scheduled to take place in Bedford on March 28/...29 has been cancelled. The health and well-being of all competitors, spectators, volunteers and adjudicators is of the utmost importance, and we appreciate everyone’s patience and support as we all navigate through this difficult and uncertain time. We have been in contact with the RSOBHD, and they have granted approval for our events to be rescheduled later this year. We will share this information once our plans are finalized and will be in touch with all currently registered dancers over the next few weeks to discuss options for moving forward with these events. Elizabeth McCorkell, Dance Director, Royal Nova Scotia International Tattoo Highland Dance Team 2012-present Elizabeth McCorkell started out as a Highland Dance...r in the show, then moved behind the scenes as one of the team’s Dance Directors three years ago, and has great insight on the Highland Dance Team! Obviously, my favourite acts are the Highland Dance Team and the Pipes & Drums. I have performed in both. I have many great memories from my time with the Tattoo, but the best part is coming together to spend three weeks with my friends, colleagues, and dancer from all around the world as we put together a fresh and enticing show each year. The Tattoo is a year-round commitment, as we have already started the audition process for our 2019 team [click here: https://bit.ly/2zaUt2a]. Each year is a new opportunity to showcase our dancers on an international stage. As a director, it’s my goal to provide the dancers with choreography that is as fun and exciting for them to perform as it is for the audience to watch. I think every should buy a ticket to next year’s show whether they’ve been before or not! Each year we try to push our limit creatively and make our scenes more exciting and dynamic than the year previously, while still incorporating the traditional elements of Highland dance that our audience knows and loves! #OurTattooFamily

It's been a great first year as Artistic Director and Highland Instructor of the Amethyst Scottish Dancers of Nova Scotia! Here's a peek at the "Spring into Summer Ceilidh" dinner and performance.

Elizabeth McCorkell, Fellow, SDTA Elizabeth is an Executive Member of ScotDance Nova Scotia and a Fellow of the Scottish Dance Teachers’ Alliance. She has additional experience in Ballet and Step dance and is a member of Dance Nova Scotia. Elizabeth is the current Artistic Director and Highland Instructor of the Amethyst Scottish Dancers of Nova Scotia, a professional performance troupe founded in 1985 and became Co-Director and Co-Choreographer of the Royal Nova Scotia Inter...national Tattoo Highland Dance Team in 2016 after having spent several years performing in the Tattoo as both a Highland dancer and a member of the Pipes and Drums. Elizabeth has over 10 years teaching experience having instructed for dance schools in several different provinces including BC, Alberta, Saskatchewan and Nova Scotia. She has danced competitively across Canada and Scotland, including being a Representative for Saskatchewan in the Canadian Championships at the ScotDance Canada Championship Series. Elizabeth has been a member of several professional performance troupes, and has performed for audiences large and small including Prince Charles and Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall during their most recent Canadian tour. She has performed in many international festivals and Tattoos such as the International Gathering of Highland Dance in Disneyland Paris, France; International Taptoe België; International Intangible Festival in Chengdu, China; Le Festival International de Musiques Militaires de Québec (FIMMQ); Virginia International Tattoo and the Kremlin Military Tattoo Spasskaya Tower Festival in Moscow, Russia. Elizabeth resides in Halifax and plays snare drum with two Pipes and Drums bands. Outside of the dance studio she is a Visual Artist with a BFA in Studio Art from the University of Saskatchewan.
