Happy New Year heritage friends. Remember there is lots to do and see even during a time of Covid.
Enjoy the holidays. Spend time with family outdoors; discover the history of your area and find local historic sites. Photo of Gray Owls cabin RMNP in 1978 taken by Bill Duchart. Greg Harris in front with red togue. We are not sure who the others are - tourists not locals.
Thankyou to Westman Communication Group for the $500 donation to McCreary Heritage Advisory Committee. Our treasurer Jeannette holds the donation which will go towards museum improvements.
Thanks to our donars we have been able to match some grant money and begin improvements to the Railway Museum. The accessibility to the museum has been upgraded with a new strong ramp. The floor in the freight shed is now level and the chimney was inspected. We have fans running in the basement to keep it dry. Thank you to all the residents and former residents that have contributed. We will continue to use donations to make needed improvements.
Regular meeting of the McCreary Heritage Advisory Committee will be held on Tuesday September 15th at 10:00 am at the Seniour Drop In Centre. Everyone welcome.
Yesterday the students packed, cleaned and completed their summer projects at the McCreary heritage sites. They saw over 200 visitors in July and August. They organized two music nights for the community and did a great job looking after the sites. Thank you Remy and Jeannette for a job well done. MHAC
