There’s still time to pitch a Cross-Disciplinary Internship project! Applications are due Friday November 27th. Join the McDonald Institute for this unique paid summer opportunity! Guidelines and application documents are available at: bit.ly/miCDI Could Artificial Intelligence aid in the search for Dark Matter? Could your background in economics, history, social geography or Indigenous studies could provide context on the conditions favourable for past, present and future... experiments in astroparticle physics? Or could your visual arts practice showcase the research in crystalline materials to the general public?

Kaelan Renault is an MSc candidate at Laurentian University - Université Laurentienne studying Computational Sciences. Kaelan spent Summer 2020 as a Cross-Disciplinary intern with Dr. Clarence Virtue on Modeling of the Neutron Detector Characterisation Facility for Supernova Physics. Kaelan says: My interest in improving efficiency has been given free reign during my internship with the McDonald Institute by allowing me to be involved in implementing a real-world collaboration that will have an impact on many large-scale astroparticle physics experiments for years to come. Learn more about the 2021 CDI program (closing Nov 27) here: bit.ly/miCDI.

We are extremely proud of the MVM group and the participating members of the Canadian Astroparticle Physics research community. We are thrilled to be a part of this project which has come together so quickly. Our researchers, engineers, and project managers have demonstrated incredible adaptability in pivoting from Dark Matter detection to medical ventilation. Congratulations to the entire MVM team!
