Being a hockey family & from Saskatchewan where we drove that road to Nipawin from Hudson Bay many times - we will never forget Moving to Vermilion & meeting Mr. & Mrs. Matechuk early on in the store, we talked hockey & Mr. Matechuk let us know about his grandson Layne who played for Humboldt & how proud he was of him & continues to be with all the positive developments in Laynes recovery process. This tragic event back in 2018 reminds us that grief, suffering, love ...& compassion spreads far & wide regardless whether you knew someone personally involved or just heard about it on the news We are all in this together & today & everyday, may we remember this day as 1 that brought the entire world to its knees, yet made us all stronger with the outpouring of love, compassion, kindness & empathy we had for each other. What have we learnt these past 3 weeks about our store, our staff & the Corona virus. Well, were definitely stronger than we think & are able to adapt & change with the flow. We have 18 thousand square feet of space in our store for customers to safely get their groceries & we are amazed at the grace that each & every person is giving to each other while in the store. Our aisles are large enough to have 3 people comfortably 6 feet apart and from what we have noticed, custome...rs are being incredibly safe up & down each aisle & we thank you all. We have 3 tills plus Customer Service to operate and put customers through. Again, our customers never cease to amaze us as they are being so very respectful & standing back while the front customer is going through the cashier with their groceries, then they enter the space when safe to do so. Amazing & again we thank you. We cross our fingers and hope we get 3 trucks a week with a grocery shipment. Due to everything that is happening in the world, that does not always happen, but we are doing our absolute best to ensure you have a reason to come and get groceries with us. Granted, the shortages are frustrating for you and for us & we apologize, but we can assure you if our shelf is empty, it is out in our warehouse & will be on our shelves as soon as it becomes available. We wipe the carts, baskets & tills all throughout the day, but if youre coming into the store & would like to have us wipe down the handle before you touch it PLEASE just ask, wed be happy to do that for you! Your comfort & safety is important to us. We are a small team of people that are working hard to make sure you can still get your groceries & while we acknowledge the fact that we are not perfect by any means, we are doing our best & for that we ask that you give us a little grace. Our staff have stepped up to this new challenge of dealing with our customers differently throughout the day & we appreciate each & every one of them for showing up & doing their job in the safest manner possible. Our customers are amazing & we appreciate so much that you are all being respectful of each others space when in the store. Heres to another week of #nottodaycorona ;) Our main objective in our store is not to give it & not to take it & of course to keep you & ourselves safe. Common sense, respect & patience have proven to go a long ways & we thank you Vermilion & area.

Where have all the people gone? We all doing our part and staying at home, thus ensuring our well being and that of our community! Understanding our governmen...ts assistance programs may still be some time before they are actually in the bank, we are sure there are many vulnerable people and familes in our community that may be suffering to make ends meet. We want to reassure people in those situations that Hearts and Hands is here and ready to help now. This would include past recipients who are still in need. Our freight trucks are not coming at their regular times and when they do show up, we are unfortunately being shorted much of the product that we ordered. However, with all that being said, we just wanted to reach out & say THANK YOU Vermilion & Area for #shoppinglocal and for continuing to impress us with your kindness, your patience & your understanding during this time. We are all in this together & we appreciate you & will continue to do our best to keep you coming back to shop with us in the future. This is unprecedented times in our society, in our community & in our own homes. First and foremost... We are beyond grateful & so very thankful for our staff that continue to show up daily to help our customers & each other get through the days. We are all working extra hours & long days doing our best to Service you & to help make sure you are all ok and have what you need to fill your cupboards, fridges & freezers at home. We love being an independent grocer, we feel it... sets us apart from the corporate stores, but that does not come without its own set of problems that are especially evident during these new times we are experiencing within the Family Foods warehouse. We have done our best to keep our shelves as full as possible with stock that is available to us. We are emptying our back room onto our shelves as quickly as the product comes in. This is where patience will truly become a virtue for many. But together, we will get through this & come out stronger when it is all said & done.
