McGill Engineering '75 20.04.2021

Dear fellow McGill 75 classmate, Greetings! I hope this email finds all well and healthy with you and your loved ones during this holiday season! What a year we’ve all had. Cancelled trips. Postponed weddings. Missing gatherings with family and friends. Fears and uncertainties about physical & emotional health of family and friends, essential supplies (toilet paper? really?), maybe even finances. And this was to be our 45th class reunion! And likely also our 50th h...igh school reunions as well. All postponed until some time in the future when we can safely get together and reminisce and share fond memories. I hope you’ve weathered the storm so far, with a light at the end of the tunnel. A quick (and final) update on our Engineering Class of 75 Endowment Project. As you likely know, we met and exceeded our stretch goal of $500K. Yay for us! This will generate about $20K per year in project funds in perpetuity! THANK YOU to all who participated in this great project! At this point, we’ve directly helped over 30 students by either funding summer research projects or in-course merit scholarships. And this past summer, when summer research projects were cancelled or curtailed, our project helped over a dozen students with scholarships helping many of them through a rough patch when summer jobs and plans were likely disrupted. While we will not be soliciting any additional donations for this project, it’s not too late to make a last-minute contribution (and join your classmates)! Our anonymous donor is still doing 1:1 matches until the end of this calendar year. The Seeds of Change project website will be taken offline shortly after that. During these difficult times, I think many of us feel very grateful for all that we have and for the lives that we have been able to live. Very likely, we all have our own ways to express our gratitude for our good fortune. During this season, I hope we all do everything we can to help one another locally and globally - through this pandemic. BE KIND! Best wishes to you all for a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year. Joyeux Noël et Bonne Année! I Hope to see many of you at our next reunion! John Ting on behalf of the gift committee See more
