Hey Quidditch players, I hope you all are keeping safe and healthy through this difficult time. The Coronavirus global pandemic has significantly changed how sport teams and associations will run for next semester, due the inability to organise any in-person gatherings for the time being. The Mcgill Quidditch Executive team is working as hard as we can to figure out the most effective way to continue for next semester, and while we cannot say what the situation will become fo...r the winter semester, we know that the Mcgill fall semester will primarily be online, rendering tournaments and practices impossible. We are making adjustments accordingly, so please stay tuned for updates. Regarding our position on the Black Lives Matter movement, Mcgill Quidditch stands in full support and will be making a following post dedicated to it. The death of George Floyd at the knee of the police force was torturous and unnecessary; it is imperative for his death to not be in vain. The recent televised oppression of the black community has opened the eyes of individuals around the world to the reparations and changes societies need to make for future generations of all oppressed communities. We have linked a guideline to avoid the coronavirus below; please take a look and heed caution when outside, especially when in close contact with others. Stay safe everyone, Mcgill Quidditch How to avoid the Coronavirus (https://www.nhsinform.scot//coronavirus-covid-19-general-a) You can reduce your risk of getting and spreading the infection by: avoiding direct hand contact with your eyes, nose and mouth maintaining good hand hygiene avoiding direct contact with people that have a respiratory illness and avoiding using their personal items such as their mobile phone covering your nose and mouth when coughing or sneezing with disposable tissues and disposing of them in the nearest waste bin after use following the guidance for households with possible coronavirus infection and arranging to be tested if someone in your household has symptoms making sure everyone in your household follows the Scottish Government’s advice to stay at home as much as possible and to stay away from other people making sure everyone in your household follows the physical distancing advice, especially anyone in a vulnerable group helping those at extremely high risk of severe illness with coronavirus to follow the shielding advice.
