McGregor Restorations

I have not posted for a number of months. I have been busy but now am taking a break due to Covid restrictions and the shortness in supplies of the materials I need. Back to business soon I hope.

The client had dramatically changed the look of their table and buffet. My job was to re-glue the chair joints, sand them in prep for painting, put on two coats of chalk paint, a wax coat, shine and then rebuild the seats with foam, fibrefill, piping and finishing fabric. The back panels got stripped, sanded oiled and waxed to co-ordinate with the look of the table. I think this kind of restoration look needs more study. I love the look.

Fix weak legs and loose frame, check, attach arm, check, paint satin finish grey, check, add layers of fiberfill, check, upholster with unique designer hand made screen print on fine linen, check. One amazing chair, check!

A set of six teak dining chairs that need some damage repair, cleaning with stripper and a few coats of Teak oil (linseed). Update the fabric and voila, a beautiful set worthy of any dining room.

These chairs have been lovingly taken care of for many decades. They have been reupholstered many times with subtle updates in style and finishing features along the way. I add a few myself. Don't they look grand. Nice footstool too.
