Gradual Reopening is underway!! First, let me tell you that I am able to start a very gradual reopening. You will be able to book online or call me for an appointment when you have read through the pre-screening questions, & the rest of the post! RMTs have been instructed to prioritize clients with essential care needs while gradually resuming practice. If you believe you fit into this category, & can pass the screening questions, be sure to let me know. Otherwise, I can boo...Continue reading

Here’s a great synopsis of the new measures in place for your next appointment!

Michelle McGuire RMT 26.08.2020

This is a more detailed update of changes happening in order to restart. I emailed this to clients but I'm posting it here as well. Take the time to read it to be aware of what measures will be in place. Thanks!! I received word yesterday from the CMTO that RMTs can gradually begin to reopen. While this is very exciting, it also comes with a very long list of training to be completed, personal protective equipment to be acquired and safety protocols that must be in place befo...re I am able to reopen. I also have to consider the availability of childcare and a husband that may have to continue to quarantine after returning from work out of province. At this time, I am beginning to work my way through this list. I want my clients to feel 100% comfortable and confident coming into my treatment space, and until I am certain that it is safe for you all, I will remain closed. Some items that will directly affect you once I reopen: - reopening is to be gradual with urgent clients having priority meaning fewer clients seen each day to limit potential exposure. - I will be required to pre-screen you before each and every appointment electronically or by phone, and again when you arrive. - You will be required to come to your appointment with a clean disposable or reusable mask. If you do not have your own mask, one will be provided, there may be a fee. If you are interested in purchasing a reusable cloth mask for $10 I can put an order in and have them available if there is enough interest. If you are unable to wear a mask for medical reasons, you must let me know before your appointment. -You will need to arrive, alone if at all possible, at your appointment time and wait in your car if you arrive early. - You will be asked to preform hand sanitizing on arrival and before you leave. - Payment will likely be contact free, either by e-transfer sent prior to arriving, or credit card through the booking system - but more details will follow. - All receipts will likely be emailed to you - I will likely need to schedule more time in between appointments to thoroughly clean the treatment room and area between clients. This again will mean I have fewer appointments available in my day. I assure you that as soon as I am taking bookings, I will send out another email. As changes in recommendations from the Ministry of Health come to health care providers, some of these guidelines may change or new added. Thank you for your patience as I navigate the new regulations and rules. If I can answer any questions that you have about my return to work, what protocols I will have in place, or about what has been happening with your health since we last met, I am happy to do so, please just reply to this email. I look forward to seeing you all as soon as safely possible. Michelle McGuire Registered Massage Therapist

Today, you may have heard Regulated Healthcare Providers are able to start back to work. According to the government & CMTO, "RMTs are now permitted to gradually restart Massage Therapy services,"but with many stipulations. This is good news however, there are many hurdles first, including obtaining PPE, setting up new procedures (and for me, child care). If you are interested, the link is down below. I will be updating as things progress and when everything is in place to b...egin treating again. Thank you for your patience as this is all figured out. Hoping to see you soon!

Michelle McGuire RMT 26.07.2020

Update! Please read, and if you would like your email to be added to my contact list, please send it in a message! First, I hope you and your loved ones are safe and well. I had a few clients reach out today asking if they were able to book appointments, so I wanted to send a quick update.... As of now, massage therapy and many other regulated health care therapies have been told by their regulating colleges to suspend all non-essential (non-emergant) treatment. The College of Massage Therapy (CMTO) went further in instructing that no massage therapy was deemed essential, and to practice would lead to disciplinary measures. When it is allowed to practice massage therapy, I will be sending a follow up email. The timing will depend on the government's decisions as well as the CMTO's guidelines. We may have to practice with PPE so that first has to be readily available, after the front line workers have a reliable supply. I hope to see you in the near future, and until then, I hope you stay safe at home, and well. If you have any questions or need home care in the meantime, let me know. Take care, Michelle

As we head into the second week of self-isolation for a lot (and hopefully, most) of us, it’s good to keep in mind why we are doing this. The following was borrowed from a fellow RMT. Please read and share. We're all pretty familiar with slowing the spread to avoid overwhelming the system by now. But it also does a few other things: 1. It allows testing to catch up. We can isolate, test, contact trace and test again. It will allow us to identify who/where has been a vector ...and find potential asymptomatic cases before they spread the virus to at risk areas like nursing homes. 2. It allows us to identify hot spots or at risk pockets to ensure we use our resources more efficiently. Many of our resources are transportable. They can be deployed more effectively which saves money, time and lives. 3. It gives us time to produce PPE to protect our front line workers and staff. 4. It gives us time to develop and vet policies and procedures to reduce spread of the virus (ie. Imagine a CMTO policy on telemedicine?) 5. It gives us time to develop and test treatments and a vaccine. 6. It gives us time to be creative! People are getting over the initial shock now and are proving to be incredibly resourceful!! Contactless payments/pick ups/drop offs, physical distancing markers in grocery stores, implementation of work from home options, classes moving to online formats. Things won't be business as usual for a long time yet, but a new way of doing business is coming for a lot of us. We have to figure out how, and then flex into that change. But, necessity is the mother of invention!
