While we anticipate the easing of restrictions and anxieties around us, we need to remember that a pandemic is a global crisis, and God’s heart is for all the world. In Acts 11, the Church in Antioch looked beyond themselves to the future, and to distant lands and decided to give generously to help people in crisis. Right now is a time for the Church at McIvor to do the same. We invite you to give generously toward Emergency Food and PPE Needs During Covid-19 through th...e work of Mennonite Central Committee. From now until the end of August, you can click on the following link, and then select one or both of these needs to give toward: https://donate.mcccanada.ca//mcivor-church-global-pandemic Beyond financial giving, we encourage you to consider campaigning our Canadian government to advocate for vaccine equity and access.

We’re getting excited to gather together on Easter Sunday to celebrate the new life that comes through Jesus. He says, I Am the Resurrection and the Life. Will you join us as we receive this promise for our lives? Services are at 9:30 and 11:00 and will follow all Manitoba health guidelines. Following each service, we will have an optional time for flowering of the cross - adorning this symbol of death with beauty. Hi friends. A couple who is part of our community have been homeless for 2 years and are moving into a new place on TUESDAY! Hooray! They are in need of many it...ems to turn their place into their home. Do you have items in good condition that you are willing to pass on to them? We are looking for things like: - bed - table, night tables, - pots/pans, kitchen supplies - chairs, couch, etc. This couple has been active, keeping the drop-in clean and running our laundry service. If you are able to help out, it would be greatly appreciated!

Today, we had our last food bank of 2020. Dozens of hampers were distributed to give a taste of Christmas. Thank you for the ways you gave so that we could bless our neighbours in such a tangible and timely way! And thank you to Winnipeg Harvest for their tireless work to address food needs in our city! Psalm 34:8 - Taste and see that the Lord is good!

Last week, dozens of residents at Madison House (a supportive housing facility run by Siloam Mission) received their Christmas gift bags. They were ecstatic to receive these practical items, but even more so, to feel seen and loved in this hard season. Thank you McIvor Church community and Maple Leaf School for your generous gifts to these neighbours in our city! Siloam Mission

In a season when we are surrounded by darkness, it is vital to hold on to the light. We invite you to participate in lunch hour devotions during the month of December. From 12:15-12:45 on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays, we will host a simple, reflective gathering on Zoom. Find the Zoom meeting code here: https://docs.google.com//1rbTyyK87goFLdLgFvf3q1fH1ai/edit Each time, we will read and reflect on a passage of Scripture, and remind each other of God's presence in o...ur lives. No preparation or commitment is required. Our hope is just to assist you in experiencing God in your life today whatever space you are currently in. And feel free to eat your lunch during this time! King Jesus, Prince of Peace, As we search for peace today, lift our eyes in both directions -to remember the past ... AND re-envision the future. Would you place the gift of Shalom in our hands - to be folded in prayer AND extended to serve the world you love. We offer ourselves to your dream of a day when battleships will be made into playgrounds, and bombs into planter boxes. Help us to trust in this dream AND live it out today. Amen.

We’re grateful for flexible volunteers who are finding creative ways to continue serving others. One expression of this is our Winnipeg Harvest food bank. McIvor Church is continuing to receive non-perishable food donations. Thank you for your generosity toward the needs in our city!

Hello McIvor Church Community, Given the most recent update from our Manitoba Health officials outlining Red Level changes for Winnipeg, we have decided to postpone our in-person gatherings. While we remain in this Red Level, McIvor will not host in-person gatherings. This is not technically a requirement of the latest update, but given the current situation in our city, we feel that this is the most responsible course of action to demonstrate love to our neighbours. So, be...ginning already this Sunday, our service will be livestreamed on our YouTube channel, starting around 9:45AM. Please stay home, stay safe, and encourage others to participate with us in this way.

This past Sunday we discussed what it looks like for followers of Jesus to engage in politics - a tough, but timely topic! How does your faith change the way you engage with public policies and actions? You can find the service on our YouTube channel, or by clicking this link: https://youtu.be/qsjn6t4NYc0

Even in a season of restrictions there are some new things popping up at McIvor Church. Check out the new playground and little library on the front lawn, created to serve families in our neighbourhood! We’re grateful to have a physical space that serves as a tangible gathering point for our congregation, and connection point for our surrounding community. Tomorrow, 10:00-3:00, many people will operate in cohorts to take on a variety of indoor and outdoor projects at our Wo...rk Bee. We’d love to have you come put your skills to work, and get to know others in the process. #peopleofmcivor #generationsjoiningjesus #renewalofallthings

We are praying for students, parents, teachers, administrators and volunteers as the new school season begins. In any year, this is a big week, but especially in this pandemic season, people are feeling the weight of this transition. Even in the midst of questions, concerns and fears, cast all your worries on God, the One who cares for you! If there are any ways we at McIvor Church can be an encouragement or support to you in this season, please let us know!
