January 19, 2021 The City needs your feedback and input to help develop its 10-year Parks and Recreation Facilities Master Plan. The plan will go to Community and Protective Services Committee and Council for approval in October 2021. The online survey is now live on Engage.Ottawa.ca until February 5, 2021. https://engage.ottawa.ca/parks-and-facilities-recreation-ma Ontario government legislation requires the City to develop this plan so that we can continue to request th...at park land is dedicated in new communities at the highest possible rate instead of the minimum provision as allowed by Planning Act. The survey asks about the type of park and recreation facilities that you and your family use and what amenities you think are important for our City parks and facilities. The development of the Parks and Recreation Facilities Master Plan will help meet the future needs of our growing community over the next decade. Virtual public engagement sessions are also planned in February and more information will be provided in the coming weeks. The one thing that the Covid-19 pandemic has reinforced is how much parks and recreation facilities mean to so many Ottawa residents and neighbourhoods. Parks and recreation facilities have proven to be important amenities that contribute to the vibrancy of our communities and the social and physical wellbeing for our residents and their families. These are your communities, your parks, and your recreation facilities. Have your say. Get involved.

Everyone has an opinion about how the City of Ottawa maintains its roads in the winter, and residents have an opportunity to share that opinion with the City right now. The City of Ottawa is reviewing its Winter Maintenance Quality Standards (WMQS). The standards determine when and where snow clearing, sanding and salting take place, how often and for how long. Residents can visit engage.ottawa.ca/wmqs and contribute to the review in three ways:... Complete a survey, available until February 19 Participate in one of four virtual workshops: January 25, 26, 27 or 28 Share an idea or ask a question in the discussion forum If you need to complete the survey by phone or require other accessibility related accommodations, please call 613-282-2685 for assistance. Issues such as climate change, accessibility, sustainability, equity and healthy living have evolved since the current standards were put in place in 2003. The 2021 review will focus on: Residential roads Sidewalks Cycling pathways Multi-use pathways for walking, cycling and rollerblading Results of the review will be shared later this year with the Transportation Committee and City Council, along with staff’s recommendations, to inform and establish updated WMQS for future winters.

Tourism has always played an integral role in the economic and social fabric of our community. With the continued devastating impacts that COVID-19 has brought upon the tourism sector, Ottawa Tourism is taking this time to reflect on how our organization can better understand and serve the needs of our vibrant community and better our city for residents and future visitors alike. In order to help us work closer together with our community to build a better place to live, work and visit, we want to hear what you think about tourism in Ottawa. This survey should take between 10-12 minutes to complete and all individual results will remain confidential and are anonymous. https://www.research.net/r/KZ8SGQJ

As temperatures drop, it's important to think about residents who have no housing. If you see someone living outdoors, please call 311 and request to have street outreach workers check on them and offer them a ride to emergency shelter, blankets, water etc.
