Having difficulty thinking of letting go of your cottage? This may help. . One reason clients are hesitant to put their cottage on the market is that they will have no home away from home. They can’t keep up the maintenance, but they also don’t want to be in their city home 365 days a year. . If you’re in a similar position, you might still be struggling to put your cottage up for sale.... . But have you heard that the Sauble Amusement Park property has been sold? The rides are gone and Sauble Beach will have a Retirement Complex. . Sauble Beach has always been a great retirement community. It has so much to offer to our mature residents. . But up until now, there were no options once you couldn’t or didn’t want to maintain your home or cottage. . What a great and needed addition to our community See more

We were all blindsided by COVID-19 in 2020. Some of us lived a lifestyle that wouldn’t have happened if our routines hadn’t been disrupted. Too much stuck indoors with wine, junk food, News & Netflix....just to mention just a few. ... So, will you do anything differently in 2021 knowing that the virus is still here?

Remember the joke that had a punch line that went something like....You misunderstood--I didn't ask you to dance, I said: "you look fat in those pants"! . Although this is an old joke it hits home for me, not the "ha, ha" part but the obvious lack of hearing on the woman's part. .... I AM DEAF, not deaf, deaf but major hearing impaired. I wear hearing aids in both ears and have for almost 20 years-without them I can't function. . The doctors don't know why I've lost my hearing only that it is inoperable and it will continue to decrease as I age. They told me that my hearing was the same as a 65-year-old who had worked in a factory their entire life. . It is something that I have come to accept and deal with. I often tell people, when I first meet them, that I'm hard of hearing. This disclosure sometimes explains the "funny" answers I give to a question I didn't hear correctly . It's amazing the number of people who have hearing loss and won't admit it. I'm not sure if it's because they associated it with ageing or if they are simply vain. . In my 30s I was the poster child for hearing aids. . I have advice for anyone who lives with a hearing-impaired person: When you are addressing them start with their first name. Instead of saying: "What do you want for lunch Sam?" say: "SAM, what do you want for lunch?". . When someone hears their name they know they are being spoken to. Always start by saying their name and I promise it will save you from repeating the sentence twice.

If at first, you don't succeed try try again. . I knew from the first time I saw this property that it was a gem...a diamond in the rough. .... I've actually deemed this house a HERO . Why? . Because it had all the characteristics of one: . there was loss there was vulnerability there was a comeback and finally, triumph

Remember the saying that you can’t meet a nice guy at a bar? Before the Internet, we were limited to where we could meet new people. There were no dating apps back then! If we depended on friends to set us up on a blind date, they’d pick someone who was right for them and not for us.... I met my husband, Paul, at a bar in 1998. It was a bar at a ski hill and it was midday... but it was still a bar. I was at the ski hill with some girlfriends for the weekend. We had skied all morning and were partaking in an afternoon apres-ski beverage. I ran into a friend that I hadn’t seen in a while, I had moved and I wanted to give her my new number. This was before cell phones so each time you moved, you had a new landline phone number. And to exchange numbers, we needed a pen and paper. But given that we were at a bar we would have to settle for a matchbook cover. We went to the bar and asked the bartender for a pen to exchange numbers. As we turned around there was a group of men ordering drinks and my friend started to chat with them. They were a great bunch of guys from an area that I’d never heard of, the Bruce Peninsula. We actually spent a couple of hours chatting with them. But eventually, it was time for me to go. I thought it would be a nice gesture to buy a round of drinks before I left. As I was handing them out, all but one said thank you. The one that didn’t say thank you was Paul, my husband. Do you know what he said to me as I handed him his drink? If you keep buying me drinks you may have a shot at me! It worked on me! What’s the best pick up line you’ve ever heard (or used)?

Families buy homes to live in and secondary properties as luxuries. Dwellings, whether your home or cottage, are 4 walls and a roof...they are not ATM machines.... Sure we've all seen the TV episodes where they flip a property and make a fortune but that's not real life. A principal residence is your home. Everyone needs to live somewhere so either you pay a mortgage or you pay rent. But as for the cottage, if there’s a change in your family’s financial situation that has you thinking that the cottage may become a financial strain you need to be realistic. You need to know what's happening in your local real estate market so that you can make an informed decision. If you'd like to know more about our local market and how to price your property to sell, message me and we can see up a time to chat
