So today at the CMRB meeting, a vote for a motion was held. 8 municipalities voted for 2 municipalities voted against... 1 of the 2 municipalities that voted against was Calgary - so guess what - the motion didn't pass. All members of the CMRB board, except Calgary, should be paying attention, because if Calgary doesn't want it - no matter how it is voted on democratically, how Calgary votes is the only vote that matters. 80% of the members wanted something to happen. 80%!!!! At this board - democracy is dead! Miranda Rosin Ric McIver CochraneNow addition. What is even more frustrating is that CMRB administration and the TAG (technical advisory group) had worked these changes to this section prior to the actual board meeting. And the changes were accepted by the administration and TAG as needed and valid. So frustrating.

Our peace officers have expanded enforcement roles to improve the safety in RVC and along all major highways, not just County Roads.

A resident has enquired about a company or person that services lawn tractors onsite (rather than having to haul somewhere). I know tractorland used to, and Sears used to have a mobile service but both of those are gone now. Any suggestions? Thanks

Update: Found! Lost dog. This little dog went missing today around dinner time. Her name is Poppy, but she is shy and timid so may not respond. ... She lives in Harmony. Please contact me if you spot her.

I’m not a proponent for any candidate in Calgary for Mayor or Councillor, but I saw this video that Jeff Davison had on his webpage about the declining value of downtown core and how without new investment, that ultimate tax burden gets shifted to residential taxpayers. His message is correct and holds true for Rocky View. Over time, as the cost of goods and services go up, municipalities need to find ways to pay for those things. If it is true for Calgary, it is true for us.... Only with the CMRB we have limited options for attracting new investment dollars and those dollars don’t automatically go to Calgary. I think the pandemic has pretty much proven that businesses can establish themselves anywhere. So the risk is always it will leave the region or even the province. We can raise taxes, cut services, (both) or attract new investment into the region. When that third option gets eliminated by an unelected board then that only leaves the first two. It is your Rocky View. Let’s keep it that way! https://youtu.be/j2J1o5a1phA

Hi everyone, I have received the following email from a local Springbank family. They have asked for my help in spreading the word for their need of a little community support. Hello Kim,... I hope you and your family are doing well. These are trying times for sure. Wendy and I always look forward to and appreciate your newsletter. We are having a particularly difficult time this winter with the recent news about our grandchild Max who has just been diagnosed with a devastating progressive disease SMA, Spinal Muscular Atrophy. The good news is there is a treatment available. The bad news is the window for treatment ends on his second birthday January 11, 2021, at a current cost of 2.8 million dollars. We are reaching out to everyone with a Go Fund Me campaign in an attempt to make this happen. This will be a monumental task and any help you could provide in the circulation of this https://gf.me/u/zak2th. would be greatly appreciated. Best regards, Dennis and Wendy Parker All the detail is on their page and they can be contacted directly if you have more questions.

Good afternoon, Just to let you know that the RVC offices have been closed, voluntary lock down, as the number of COVID cases continues to rise. The good news is that we can easily adapt back to online. The CAO and team are working through the logistics and the official detail will be be released on our website (www.rockyview.ca).... From what I currently understand, all December public hearings will be postponed until January, 2021. The December 8th council meeting will be cancelled and all business items on the agenda will be moved to the December 22nd Council meetings. All other committee and board meetings scheduled will occur virtually. We will look to hold a special council meeting (or two) in January to ensure our public hearings do not get delayed for too long. As always, please contact me at [email protected], but for 24 per day questions - send a note to [email protected]
