Today's Topic Tag Tuesday is all about a token of one's affection, and the trouble it brings...
#topictag this week is all about Scrooge, and how we got him so wrong... https://mcm.1889.ca/shorts/topictag/2020-05-19
I was hoping to launch my new project under happier circumstances, but life's a funny thing, and sometimes you've just gotta roll with it. Bytown is a free webfiction series about the lawless hellhole that eventually became the capital of Canada, and the people who fought to redeem it. Unlike toilet paper, I've stockpiled enough chapters to last 'til November, so if you're looking for a thrice-weekly distraction, I invite you to take a look...... https://bytownseries.ca/read/
You guys are seriously deranged. "Eats seahorses"? Yeesh. Given the recent flood of inputs, I've decided to feature a random set of parents each day leading up to next week's episode. One of you nutbars input Kim and Hamish into the system this morning. You should be both proud and ashamed. Anyway... suggesting is free and easy, so if you want to be weird, visit https://mcm.1889.ca/2019/aaac/interact/
VOLUNTEERS NEEDED: help me pick the next parents of the Anti-Christ. Takes less than a minute and you could end up deciding the fate of the world! Sorta! https://mcm.1889.ca/2019/aaac/interact/
Hey Canadians! Now you too can see what all the fuss is about! True and the Rainbow Kingdom comes to CBC in just a few days!

Another fun #fakecover prompted by the amazing and amazingly-strange image of the swirling girl. Does not compute, which always interests me. Once I figured out what her special power is, it all made perfect sense...
OK, so full disclosure: this is a slightly less-#fakecover. It's for an event I want to do like #3D1D, but with TEAMS. An RPG novel. Mwaha.
Another fun #fakecover detail to brighten and/or ruin your day #3d1d
And of course the making-of video to "Hi Denise", because indecision is fun to watch #fakecover
I'm on a creepy kick lately, it seems. New #fakecover for you: "Hi Denise." #bookcover #procrastinating
The kind of day it has been. #raining #september
And the making-of video for my... uh... fake book cover. #fakebook #makingof #illustrator #horror #inbothsenses
Was browsing stock photos and saw this pic and... well... some titles write themselves. #writinglife #horror #fakebook
WIP from another script (not preschool, in case it's not obvious): JACK: Oh come ON! Im good! Im fine! Ive got Lin to keep an eye on me! Vance seems to notice Lin for the first time.... VANCE: And who IS Lin? JACK: OK, quick icebreaker: Lin, Captain Vance is a stooge of the military industrial complex. Vance, Lins wife left him for a waiter. Sorry, no, a barista. Im... wow, that wasnt a photo of a latte AT ALL. Lins face goes red. LIN: A-are you...? JACK/VANCE: Reading your email. VANCE: Get used to it. JACK: OK, nice chat. Weve gotta go. #jacked
WIP from a novel, a loooooong time in the making: "What I want," Guinevere said, layering on her diplomatic composure, "is to stay in my own house. The house my family built." Gawain seemed to have trouble understanding the words. He laughed, cut himself off, then paced in a circle as he thought aloud. "Lothian has all the most modern amenities that you might"... "And yet," Guinevere persisted, "it's not my house." Gawain shrugged, shot a glance to Rinwell, who tilted his head in response. "I would be honoured if you would allow me to" "No," Guinevere said. "Thank you." #problemking
Extremely small slice (literally 1/290) of a WIP: Vodka sloshed. "Get thee to a nun'ry," she slurred. "Tha's some next-level, like, r'vrse ghosting right there. Bastard." #tangents
Can't enjoy my coffee on account of misaligned chairs. #ocdproblems #coffeetime
Early stages of fun WIP... the fun stage before all the work :) #writinglife #webfiction
Four outlines by Monday? Psh, I have coffee now... child's play. #amwriting #writinglife #bridgehead #mmm
Scribbles to outline to script to NEXT! #writinglife #amwriting #tv
Not only is it astoundingly cute, but True is also good for kids. So giddy to have worked on it
This is one of the most jaw-droppingly gorgeous (and fun!) shows I have ever worked on. It hits Netflix next week, so if you have kids (and/or like fun) check it out! It's going to be aweeeeeesome :)
I was going to say this was a big surprise, but honestly, Jiro and the team at Guru made a crazy-fantastic show that deserves all the ponies. All of them. I'm just happy Craig and I could play along :)
Screenwriting hell: 4 pages of space left, but 7 pages of content in mind.
Happy milestone today: this page reached 1,000 likes! I assume that means I win some kind of prize, like a donkey or a vacuum cleaner or something. Right?
Looking for a gift for the bookworm on your list? How about trying Pathogen by my very old friend, Jessica Webb. The first book in the series, Trigger, is amazing, and so is the sequel. Get it now. DO IT. Note: "old" as in "one of my oldest friends", not craggly and decrepit. Necessarily.
