So , we are doing a large 82 unit townhouse complex, a complete attic remediation. This job is being fully inspected by a very respected engineering firm, hired by the Strata Corp. We were very careful to listen to the engineer from the get go, so we would not have any issues down the road. As it turns out, it was a smart move, as all reports are coming back very positive. When you have an engineer saying you are exhibiting a "high standard of workmanship" and " The observed workmanship is excellent" , you know your doing something right !! PS..It really helps to have employees that care as much as I do !!

It's October...and you know what that means...No, Not Halloween ! (Although that's important too, just ask my kids...) It's time to check your Gutters ! Almost as important as your roof, the last thing you need this winter is leaky, old, sagging gutters that you know you should have replaced a few years ago ! Well, even though its not the greatest roofing weather, Gutters are something that we can change year round. So if you notice a constant leak, or a little sag, or the downpipes are disconnected, maybe its time to replace those old things with some shiny new continuous aluminum gutters and downpipe ! I guess you could say this is a perk of the job. I had this view while doing an estimate on Chilliwack Mountain. This is looking west down the Fraser River from just above The Lickman Rd Exit. Don't often get to see the River from this point...pretty amazing....

Well, just finished my second home show in 3 weeks, out at the George Preston Recreation Center in Langley. It was actually a pretty good little show. But now that I have so many leads I will be measuring roofs and doing lots of presentations over the next couple of weeks, doesn't leave a lot of time for anything else. Ventilation is such a key component of re-roofing homes in the lower mainland. I really believe continuous ridge venting is an excellent way to help provide proper ventilation. Using this in conjunction with making sure your soffits have a good, clear intake of air, and you shouldn't have any problems down the road. I recommend this type of ventilation for most typical sloped roofing installations. Call me to learn more, and see some actual samples and installations.

My old friend Ronnie Thompson's home...Not only did the plywood also have to be replaced, but half the trusses needed to be re-aligned and reinforced.... she is a pretty straight and level roof and ridgeline now I'd say !! he also went with the Certainteed Landmark T\L, complete with continuous ridgevents, just a great looking product...

2 really nice couples in Port Coquitlam, we did the 2 houses side by side at the same time... Got a nice referral letter too ! Well, The windstorms from last week certainly created Havoc all around the lower Mainland. In fact, while working on a home in North Burnaby, when we went there Friday morning, we spent the first 10 minutes cleaning up shingles that had blown off the neighbors roof ! So take some time, especially if your roof is over 10 years old, and look around and see if you spot any areas of concern. If you do, feel free to give me a call to come out and assess the situation further !
