1970 GMC restoration job #2 update. Truck in blasted and currently getting all bodywork completed. (I couldn't sit around and do nothing during covid-19) I joined the boys at the body shop and welded in new steel where it was needed so truck will have minimal body work. The boys at @northerngateway onoway ab. Are doing an awesome job of prep and there attention to detail is awesome!
This is kinda old but I was hoping to do a re-assembly video with my boy when time comes. But I need th space on my phone so.... I'm going to post this now. Hope everyone enjoys Austin and I's projects truck. When all is done I will edit a complete video. I love my boy.!
Did a custom exhaust for a friend the other day. Here is how she sounded. Stay tuned for in depth look on tubing specs and how I fabricated 3," t from scratch
All fixed up. Runs like a charm!!
Austin diagnosing the Caddy.
Austin my boy came and helped me in the shop today to diagnose the Caddy. He did an awesome job all day.
Just thought I would see if theres any job out there that anyone wants to see. I can make a DIY job on how to do it. Today I'm going to be working on a cadilac sts for a friend who dropped it off at shop a few days ago. It's been sitting for three days and is now safe to work on. I still wipe down. It's running rough and has no power smoking and check engine light is on. I'll update later today.
With everything going on I hope everyone is staying safe! I have tried my hands at making a how to video on YouTube. Check it out at McMillanmechanical Comment let me know what you all think!!! https://youtu.be/bPCyytRI8T8
Everything in the past week has been weighing very very hard on Us. Due to Covid19 We have decided to officially close our doors And do our Part to stop the Deadly Virus... I say This Wity such a heavy Heart as with the Current economic State leading into this we did not/ Do not have enough $ to Survive. I never in my life would have thought I would have to Choose safety over Work. Not just my safety but the safety of my Wife My Kids Parents and Everyone. I Have decided that ...Those Are more important Than Business or any Amount of $ at this point. To all our Amazing customers/ Patrons for Ten years we have worked with you Rain or Shine Sleet or snow you having invited Us To your Christmas partys and msny times even into your homes. For anyone who knows me. I think it's safe to say I try my best to be an honest respectable businessman. I do make mistakes like anyone. I do everything in my power to be reasonable and respectfull of others. the last 5 years has been a struggle in business. Rising costs, harder to find competent staff. I have struggled through this economy as best I can taking each blow as it comes. In my shop we charge a competitive Rate of 110$ per hour. and as of Jan 1st a service truck ...rate of 130$ which used to be 110$ as well. I feel this needs to be said. It costs an extreme amount of $ to be able to have the shop and operate it efficiently/ smoothly. We strive to get jobs in and out as fast as possible while doing them as affordable as possible. As of late we are having to fight to get paid more and more. Not because we did anything wrong or the work we did was faulty but simply because they dont want to pay. To me this is stealing if you do this your stealing. Your stealing from me my wife my kids. my employees my employees kids and there family's. From this point forward if you bring something to our shop and I spend 6 hours fixing it. please expect a bill for 6 hours. Dont argue after the fact that someone else quoted you less or that you know a better mechanic who could do it faster..... If that's the Case go to him. All I can promise is we will do our absolute best to always get it right. We dont work for free!! Were not a none profit and I do have a family to feed. Also Dont call a service truck under the premise it will be cheaper Than Going to the shop. It Wont! service trucks are not meant to be cheaper than a shop there meant to get your unit fixed faster and get you back moving/ working sooner. Sometimes yes it's cheaper to call a service truck sometimes it's not! Keep that in mind! It's a service just like any other and it will cost $. To All my amazing customers who have been with me through all of this in the last ten years. I appreciate you! I know you have a choice of 1000 shops you could go to and you chose Us and for that We Are grateful. If you come to McMillan Mechanical just be sure you understand these things. we will do our best! And we expect to be paid. I could keep going but..... I won't. Leave a comment positive or Negative I want to hear from you!
Hey everyone if you have ever been to the shop or had a service truck out please leave a review good or bad we want your feedback!
Well looks like we all made it through the deep freeze. We successfully completed 12 no starts a few trucks with icing issues. One Car that I am sad to say although we tried we could not get running....to that customer I am sorry. The Old ford (if you know me will know this is hard for me to admit) was actually the most reliable truck we had during this Cold snap. The cold is extremely hard on a vehicle and can cause significant damage to the engine if started in this kind... of weather without plugging in. when we do our cold start we use an isolated tarp and cover and setup A 200,000 btu diesel heater. Your vehicle is basically setting up a little heat shack. This is the first year I have ever done it this way on all trucks and I am very happy with the way things worked out. Doing the Cold starts in this manner I believe really mitigates as much possible internal damage as possible. If we did a no start for you please leave a review (even guy who we couldn't get running)
Well it's really cold out and some of you may be lucky and your vehicle is starting, but if your not so lucky we will come to you with a tarp and diesel heater and get you running!! Give us a call and we'll be there !!
Well it's super cold outside but we're all rigged up to get all your units running and working including boosting cars. We all gotta go to work so if you need any help give us a call. If its frozen we will thaw it!
We hope that everyone has a Safe & Happy New Year!! And we wish you all the best in 2020!
