As promised this will be my final McNeill Life Stories post before the election. While I have found this election about as divisive as the last, it has also inspired me to do more research on the party positions. What I found was unsettling. I know all parties tend to over-promise while trying to gain votes, then overspend while in office. It's what the public demand and it's what they get. As this post and the last were concerned with fiscal responsibility, what I found in t...he search this time around was surprising as I had not realized how freely the Conservatives used up every dollar and billions more to keep themselves in office. Provincially, in Alberta and Newfoundland were at the head of the pack for all those years of high oil prices, yet when the NDP in Alberta, and the Liberals in NFLD took over following the elections of 2014/2015, the financial mess they found was truly astonishing. While the people of NFLD responded by shutting the conservatives out in 2019, the people of Alberta were not so lucky as they voted the Conservatives back in. It was akin to putting the fox in charge of the chicken coop. Be that as it may, best you get out and vote. If you don't vote, don't complain.
