As of June 26th, they have updated the CEBA small business loan program to include businesses that do not have payroll accounts. This means that as long as you have $40,000 of non-deferrable expenses in 2020 you can apply for the $40,000 loan even if you do not pay yourself or your employees through payroll. If your expenses for 2020 will be below this amount you can apply for a smaller loan. The Government will still waive repayment of 25% of the loan. This includes corporat...ions that pay dividends to their owners instead of wages as well as sole-proprietors who simply take the net income home each year. The major Canadian banks should all have applications available through their websites as of today with credit unions soon to follow.
