Glenn Gordon Wesche 1963 2021 Glenn has started his new journey climbing new mountains, with the freedom of watching over the ones he loves. Leaving his family and dear friends on April 25, 2021 he will be missed and, in our hearts, forever.... Glenn loved horseback riding, hunting, and hiking the mountains, spending time at the cabin with friends and family. Rose Elizabeth Tanner (Douch) April 27, 1923 - May 21, 2021 The word most often used to describe Rose in later life has been stoic. Quiet and unassuming, she bore her trials and tribulations with a matter of factness and doggedness that was inspiring. She resisted being called old or adopting anything she considered was for old ladies (canes, walkers, shawls), the inference of course being that she wasn’t one. ... Rose was a bit of a miracle given that she was the last child born to parents late in their life, parents who had already lost 1 child aged 14 and 4 more children within 2 months of their birth. Her 6th sibling, and the only sibling she knew, died aged 35 when she was 23. Who would have thought Rose would live to the grand age of 98. Rose loved camping, hiking, and exploring with her beloved husband Len, or Lenny, as she would sometimes call him. She missed him terribly when he died, but stoic as she was, her attitude was that life goes on and it was important to her to convey that by action to her kids and grandkids. Rose was sharp and lucid to the end of her life and remained an avid reader, enjoying her crossword and jigsaw puzzles. At 97 she was still able to knit a lovely Christmas stocking for a new arrival to the family. Rose was predeceased by her husband (Leonard Tanner), father (Frederick Douch), mother (Alice Douch), all her siblings (Ivy, Violet, Frederick, Winifred, May and Reginald), and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. Left behind to celebrate Rose’s life is her son Adrian Tanner (Linda), daughter Beryl Wills (Leslie), grandson Paul Wills (Shanna), granddaughters Rochelle Tanner (Ross) and Erin Tanner (Femi), great grandchildren Shelby and Boden Wills, Frederick and Fara Fadojutimi, and last but not least, great grandpuppy Macie, with whom Rose was smitten. Roberta "Bobbie" Heuscher 1943 - 2021 On April 14, 2021, Roberta "Bobbie" Heuscher, loving mother and proud granny left us at the age of 77. ... Many knew Bobbie from her extensive work history in the Columbia Valley, mainly from Brother John’s and Bobbie’s Café. She was a proud and passionate business owner in the Columbia Valley. She was a champion of the underdog and not afraid to call out the bullies and put them in their place. Her logo was the lady with a gun, for a reason. She swore like a trucker, smoked like a train and loved liked each day mattered. Her pride and joy were her grandsons, Ian and Ward Fenton. She taught them to light fires, split wood and knives cut sharp. Many band aides were the boys medals of honour from the day spent with Gran. She loved them ferociously. Bobbie loved to garden, pan gold, paint and explore the artist that was her. She is survived by her daughter, Deborah Lee, son Vince Beyette, her grandsons Ian, Ward and Pierce and a small circle of family members. Arrangements entrusted to McPherson Funeral Services. Noreen Rose Doll 1933 2020 Noreen Doll chose her last sunrise on December 16, 2020, passing peacefully in the loving comfort of her family, at the age of 87 after a painful but courageous battle with several types of cancer.... She was born in Nelson, B.C., on September 25, 1933 to Ed & Ann Hedley. Later the family moved to Rossland, then on to Cranbrook where her dad became a Government Agent. Growing up in Cranbrook was special to her, she loved the area, wildlife, and dear friends she met along her journey. Noreen was a proud member of the Cranbrook Girls Bugle Band for many years. She had an ear for music and was incredibly talented at playing piano. Noreen could listen to a song, and suddenly it was like magic from her ears to her fingers, she would just start playing the song beautifully. Later it became a tradition at Christmas, playing the carols that the family would gather around and sing along. Noreen married her best friend Vern, and they had 7 wonderful children. Many treasured times were spent out at the Doll cabin at North Star Lake. The family has made so many forever memories there and those will be cherished. Noreen always carried herself with grace and dignity, took special care of her appearance, so much so that she dedicated herself for 50 years at Anna’s Gym with her dear friends Bernice and Zella. They would go 3 days a week and include a good visit of course! Noreen was known for her quick wit, humour, and most loving kind ways. She would always have a smile on her face, and her close friends and family were her number one priority. One of her favorite things was looking out her window, and watching the deer come for a drink, or the squirrels eating food she would leave for them. At one time she counted over 150 elk running through the property. She will be missed greatly, and the memories she has left our family will be cherished forever. We love you. She is survived by her 7 children, Dianne Pinchak, Linda Atwood (Shaun Payne), Dale (Jay), Mel, Daryl (Sheri), Rick, Tracey Paarup (Jamey), 19 grandchildren, 24 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren, her dear sister Lois Dooling (Tom), and many nieces and nephews. Noreen was predeceased by her husband Vern Doll in 2010, her parents Ann & Ed Hedley, her sister Jean Smith (Keiver), her brother Ed Hedley, her nephew Jim Dooling, and her favourite child - her beloved little furry pal Bear. Due to Covid -19 restrictions, a Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. Arrangements entrusted to McPherson Funeral Services. Gertrude Jesse Jones (Green) May 14, 1917 November 18, 2020 On Wednesday afternoon, November 18, 2020 one of Cranbrook’s eldest and finest residents peacefully went to sleep, with her daughter Gail at her side. Gertrude Jesse Jones (nee Young), born on May 14, 1917 to Jesse and Florence Young, was the last of a family of 10 children. She grew up in Khedive, Sask a small farming town. In July of 1937 she married Michael Green and they eventually settled in Regina, Sask. Ger...trude worked for the Salvation Army Department store selling shoes. If you did not reach your daily tally you did not have a job the next day. Of course, mom was always at the top of the selling list! In 1947 mom and dad ventured west to the small town of Cranbrook, B.C., with dear friends George and Edith Klassen. They all partnered in purchasing a dilapidated Bake Shop located where the Access Centre is currently located. None of them were professional bakers, but Edith did know her way around the kitchen. They dug in their heels, worked hard, and had a remarkably successful business. Eventually mom and dad went on their own and opened Sunrise Grocery, then changing to Sunrise Marina. Mom was a great listener, a compassionate lady, never judging and ready to help at a moments notice. Mom worked along side Mike for many years and then Gail at the Hair Salon. She loved people and she loved to talk. If mom sat down beside a stranger, she would know their life story within moments. She was that easy to talk to. In 1989 she lost Mike. In 1991 she married George Jones Casey. After 10 happy years Casey also passed away. The last 4 years of mom’s life, she resided at the F.W Green Home. The exceptional care given by the wonderful staff, recreation and management, and Dr. Dugay, especially during this last difficult year was deeply appreciated. Left with wonderful memories and sadness right now, daughter Gail Goetz, pride of her life grandson Jeramie (Tami), 2 beautiful great grandchildren Beckem and Madison, many nieces, and nephews. Your free Mom, you will be forever in my heart. Due to Covid, a Celebration of Life will be held when safe to do so. A limb has fallen from the family tree. I hear a voice saying, Do Not grieve for me. Remember the best times, the laughter, the song. The good life I lived while I was strong. Continue my heritage, I’m counting on you. Keep smiling and the sun will soon shine through. My mind is at ease, my soul is at rest; remembering you all and how I truly was blessed. Continue traditions, no matter how small. Go on with your life, don’t worry about a fall. I miss you all dearly, so keep up your chins, Until the day when we all are together again. Arrangements entrusted to McPherson Funeral Services. Laura Lee Hatch (nee Runge) December 14, 1960 November 10, 2020 It is with tremendous sadness that we announce the passing of Laura Lee Hatch, of Calgary, Alberta, who passed away on November 10, 2020 at the age of 59 years.... Laura was born on December 14, 1960 in Calgary, Alberta, to Donald and Linda Runge. She grew up in Calgary and graduated from high school there. She married Aubrey Hatch in 1984 and they were soon blessed with two daughters, Jennifer Lee and Daril-Lynn. Aubrey’s job took the family to both Mississauga, Ontario and Vancouver, B.C., before they resettled in Calgary. In time Laura took on the role of single-mother and raised both girls in a kind, loving and supportive home. Laura became a professional land administrator for the oil and gas industry and was a member of The Canadian Association of Petroleum Land Administration. She worked for over 20 years for oil and gas companies both large and small in Calgary. It was at one of these companies that Laura met her common-law husband Steve Dabner and they continued their loving relationship for the final 19 years of Laura’s life. They enjoyed travelling, sailing and their motorcycle trips in the summers but their passion was spending time at their vacation home that they built in Kimberley, B.C. Laura was an avid and talented crafter. Her favourite pastimes were crocheting, quilling, jewelry making and needlepoint. She had a particular flair for making gorgeous paper flower arrangements. Tragically, Laura was stricken by a very severe stroke in July of 2018 that left her paralyzed on her right side and unable to speak. She undertook 3 months of intense rehabilitation at the Foothills Hospital in Calgary followed by 6 months at the Halvar Jonson Centre for Brain Injury Rehabilitation in Ponoka, Alberta. She embraced the therapies with her strong will and determination and touched so many along the way. Ultimately her efforts were rewarded and she was able to continue to live independently with Steve and her beloved kitties. Those that knew Laura were blessed by her kindness, generosity and love. She had soft spots for animals and babies but family always came first. Laura will be lovingly remembered by her mother and stepfather Linda and Don Lindsey, her father and stepmother Don and Lynn Runge, her sister Rhonda (Jaye), daughters Jenni and Daril, nephew Colin, stepdaughter Melissa (Brad) and husband Steve. Donations in memory of Laura can be made to your local SPCA, the Foothills Hospital or the Halvar Jonson Centre at https://www.albertahealthservices.ca/give/give.aspx, or the East Kootenay Regional Hospital at https://www.interiorhealth.ca/ A celebration of Laura’s life will be held at a time when friends and family can gather together safely.
