Shared from City of Toronto - Your Local Government: "Do you have a question about housing standards in Toronto? Test a new communication service by texting 647-424-1165 between October 1 - 7, 2020. This will take about 5 minutes.... By texting this number, you are agreeing to have the City of Toronto collect and retain the history of the text conversation. Please note that this is a concept test only and as such, the information may not be accurate. You may incur charges for texts depending on your phone plan (for example, if you pay per text message). No other information will be recorded and your phone number will not be kept on file. Your participation in this test will help us design the best tenant communications experiences for you. If you have any questions about this project or participation in this test, please contact Anne-Marie Croce at [email protected] or 416-676-6455. Additionally, we are scheduling 30-minute video chats to receive feedback about the service. You will be compensated should you qualify to participate in these chat sessions. If you are interested in participating or have questions about this, please email us at [email protected]."

THE HIDDEN AND NOT-SO-HIDDEN CASUALTY OF COVID-19 As the homeless population is made more physically visible by our fight against COVID-19, there is another group that is even less visible, namely, people with precarious immigration status in Canada. This group is made up of failed refugee claimants, people who have overstayed their visas, families who are seeking to stay in Canada on humanitarian and compassionate grounds, among others, all of whom are eking out a living by doing cash jobs in restaurants, factories, the construction trades, etc. They are among the first to lose their jobs as non-essential businesses get shut down. But they are the last to receive any kind of public support at this time of economic and social crisis. https://csalc.ca/hidden-not-hidden-casualty-covid-19/
