Double trouble with @thewisperingraven and @jlinconnue As the cold sets in and the prospect of snow arriving this weekend becomes a reality, I will be reflecting on some of the awesome shoots I had this fall. There is something magical about the season and it always teaches me new lessons. Each year I try to be more like an autumn maple. I have learned to recognize that things need to change to continue living and a part of that is letting go of things you've held unto for t...oo long. I am often reflecting on my year, my accomplishments, and my failures. This year has given me a lot to reflect on, which offers me many opportunities to turn a new leaf. I have learned to be more colourful and that it's okay to stand out from the other tree's. I learned that nature can shake us to our core, but we can stand tall and be mighty despite our limbs quivering. I am not the first tree to weather a storm and I won't be the last, but I hope this old maple has a few more years left to continue offering shade for those who need it. #autumn #fall #reflective #reflection #advice #inspire #inspirational #inspiration #photographer #photography #519photography #519shooters #portrait #portraiture #519ldnont #ldnont #ldnent #getdtl #london #canada

Have you learned a new skill this year? With the slow down this year from Covid-19 I have taken extra time and care to pursue my interest in film photography. I have been working on developing my own colour film and shooting Medium Format photography. It wasn't easy to learn, and I had some really spotty results to start, but as things progressed I have become more and more happy with the images I have produced! This was shot on a Mamiya 6 medium format range finder camera with a 150mm F4.5 portrait lens. The film was Kodak Portra 400. Let me know what skills you have been working on developing in the comments! #film #filmphotography #mediumformat #mediumformatfilm #photographer #skill #skills #skilldevelopment #developing #filmdeveloping #kodak #Portra #Portraitmood #portrait #portraiture

We are all just trying to survive, so be kind to each other in each interaction you have. Sometimes trauma is very obvious, as is the case with Mike, pictured below. But most often, trauma isn't physical, it is emotional or psychological. Our response to trauma can dictate how we shape our personalities and interact with the world. Trauma can create a psychosis, and we can live in a world of paranoid fear because of something that happened in our childhood that we didn't have... the mental, or emotional capacity to cope with. Trauma doesn't go away, and we can't pretend it didn't happen, but it is possible to change your lived experience by how you think about it. Trauma creates a stress related response in the body which creates inflammation. Unhealed trauma can literally lead to chronic inflammation disorders. Meeting people like Mike humbles me. He was out for a ride on his motorcycle, and an at fault driver backed into him, tearing his arm right off his body. The injury was so severe that parts of his chest and shoulder muscles were ripped out of the socket. Mike lives with chronic pain, as his nerves were severed in the process. Fitting a prosthetic will prove to be difficult as he may not have enough of an arm left. He manages his pain with medication but may have to have his nerves cauterized to end the pain. So what does Mike think about his situation? He can't wait to get out on his motorcycle again. He is grateful to be alive, and he doesn't harbor any anger in his heart. It can be surreal how easy one person can heal from trauma, while others struggle with daily tasks. Never judge another person's struggle by the magnitude of their trauma. They say don't make a mountain out of a molehill, but to some people the molehill IS a mountain. Some people are struggling to pay rent Some people are struggling to pay high food prices Some people are struggling to pay high electricity bills Some people are struggling to simply stay positive in a global epidemic where stress is at an all time high What does Mike think about all of that? "I have those problems too," he tells me. #inspire #inspirational #help #heal #trauma #personalinjury #injury #519

Covid-19 has changed the way we interact, and the places we visit. Eldon House is still open giving tours with some restrictions. MC Spirit Studios worked with Eldon House in 2019 to put together this accessibility project. This Eldon House Virtual Tour allows anybody with mobility issues that has been unable to view the upper floors, or basement of Eldon House, to get a guided tour experience of the rooms! Please consider making a donation to Eldon House, one of London's most well known Heritage properties. https://vimeo.com/436810649
