Paul Nicklen says it so well. Please consider signing this petition to bring an end to the slaughter of what's left of our Pacific Coast herring. https://petitions.ourcommons.ca/en/Petition/Sign/e-2342. Thank you! "British Columbia's coastal ecosystem is on the edge of a dangerous tipping point. Right now, the industrial fisheries are preparing for the annual herring slaughter, a slaughter that has collapsed 4 of the 5 herring populations on the coast of British Columbia. We ...need your voice to put an end to this destruction. As a Canadian, I refuse to stand by as a silent witness of devastation. We don’t have time left to wait for another season. Join me and make sure your voice is heard by Fisheries and Oceans Canada - sign this petition. https://petitions.ourcommons.ca/en/Petition/Sign/e-2342 I’ve seen firsthand the consequences that the industrial herring fishery has brought upon the communities, the traditional fishermen, and the animals that call this place home. We’re hitting this critical ecosystem, the lifeblood of Canada’s western coast, from every angle. The best thing we can do is to leave it alone, to stop unsustainable fisheries and give this ocean and this coast a chance to recover. If we act as only one I truly believe we can start turning the tide for a brighter future. I am proud to work with my team at SeaLegacy and our coalition collaborators at Pacific Wild, Ecologyst, and Conservancy Hornby Island on this campaign to suspend commercial herring fisheries in the Strait of Georgia and the Salish Sea. Thank you for your passion, your commitment, and your courage to believe in a brighter future with us. I hope you will join me. With gratitude, Paul Nicklen Co-Founder of SeaLegacy"

This is the most thorough and understandable description I've seen yet on what's at the core of the current Wet'suwet'en/Coastal GasLink disaster. Whether you agree or not, having a deepening understanding of the history and details of the confusing issues of aboriginal title, land rights, and the "rule of law" is essential if we are going to pressure our governments to finally deal properly and fairly with the 1st Nations of our country. I don't spend much time anymore trying to follow details of the democratic train wreck in our southern neighbour. However, I could not resist posting this delightful yet tragic portrayal of the era of Trump. The Founding Fathers, though melodic and entertaining, must be in agony over the current condition of "America the Great." Enjoy, laugh...with compassion! https://www.youtube.com/watch
