Saskatchewan held a new round of invitations on November 19. The Saskatchewan Immigrant Nominee Program (SINP) invited candidates from the International Skilled Worker category through two subcategories: Express Entry, and Occupations In-Demand. They sent out a total of 551 invitations to immigration candidates who had work experience in certain occupations. In order to be invited in this draw, candidates from both sub-categories needed to have submitted Expression of Interest... (EOI) profiles with the SINP. Unlike the previous draw, each category had a slightly different score requirement. The 214 Express Entry candidates needed an EOI score of at least 78 in order to be invited. This is the provincial requirement, not the Comprehensive Ranking System cutoff. Invited candidates had Educational Credential Assessments, and work experience in one of 56 occupations. To see which occupations were invited, go to the government webpage. Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) is now processing more spousal immigration applications following a slowdown at the beginning of the coronavirus pandemic.Prior to the pandemic, Canada was aiming to welcome 70,000 new immigrants under its Spouses, Partners and Children category. Under its new 2021-2023 Immigration Levels Plan this target will increase to around 80,000 annually moving forward. Most of those welcomed under this category are the wives, husbands, and partners of Canadian citizens and permanent residents who sponsor them.Immigration processing and admissions have slowed due to the pandemic however IRCC made a major announcement in late-September that it would aim to expedite up to 6,000 spousal applications per month between September and December 2020. One of the ways to measure how well certain groups of migrants have integrated into Canadian society, is to look at how they performed in the labour market.Statistics Canada conducted a study on refugees who came to Canada in 2003. The study compares and contrast four different categories of refugees, how each cohort fared in getting jobs, and how many required social assistance.Refugees to Canada who come through the Refugee and Humanitarian Resettlement Program are selected... overseas either as government-assisted refugees, or as privately sponsored refugees. Refugees who make claims in Canada go through the In-Canada Asylum Program. A refugee claimant is a person who has submitted a refugee claim but has not received legal status from the government.Canada’s immigration department, Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) supplies open work permits to refugee claimants so that they can work while waiting on a decision on their claim. Those who come from abroad have access to federally-funded settlement services both before arrival and immediately upon landing See more

Canada is still accepting applications for permanent residence under the Home Support Worker Pilot. The Canadian government webpage says it has not reached the cap for the pilot. The webpage will be updated if and when the government closes the pilot to new applications in 2020. Another pilot that was launched in tandem last summer, the Home Child Care Provider Pilot, has been filled. There were 2,750 applications submitted under this pilot. Applications will reopen on January 1, 2021. People who already submitted applications to either pilot do not need to contact the immigration department. Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) will send notification letters to applicants once processing begins. IRCC says it may take longer than usual to send the letter because of the coronavirus pandemic.
