The College of Dental Surgeons of BC released their guidelines regarding resumption of dental services late Friday afternoon. I have been studying it over the past couple of days and cross referencing with Worksafe BC and the BC Centre for Disease Control. I will be meeting with my staff in the coming days to make sure we plan our return to work in a safe and controlled manner. The biggest obstacle to most dental offices is getting enough and the right kind of PPE’s. We have been working on this since the pandemic struck. At this point I do not see us reopening this week. As many of you are aware, the BC Provincial Government has announced that dental offices will be allowed to reopen starting May 19,2020. While this is great news, the College of Dental Surgeons of BC has not yet released updated regulations for the dental community. What this means is that our office will remain closed until the regulations are released and the office has been modified to comply. At that point we will notify our patients and begin booking appointments in the new normal. If you have a dental emergency call Dr Utas.
