February is National Children’s Dental Health Month! When should your child first visit the dentist? It might be earlier than you think! The Canadian Dental Association recommends the assessment of infants, by a dentist, within 6 months of the eruption of the first tooth or by one year of age. The goal is to have your child visit the dentist before there is a problem with his or her teeth. As a mom or dad to your little one, you get to experience so many ‘firsts’ right alongside them. Their first word, first day of school, and even their first dental appointment. At Meadowlands Dental Office we want to make your child’s first trip to the dentist a fun and memorable one that sets the tone of healthy habits your child will retain for a lifetime! #nationalchildrensdentalhealthmonth

It’s SO cheesy and saucyright out of the oven! You dive in and take your first biteUh oh! Too soon! You’ve got pizza burn! Soon afterward, you may have noticed that the roof of your mouth, and perhaps your tongue, is very tender and unfortunately your mouth will likely hurt for a few days. However, there are a few things you can do to relieve the pain and irritation. 1. Applying or sucking on ice can relieve the stinging. Gargling cold water or eating ice cream are other ...options. 2. Drinking milk can coat the scorched area. 3. An over-the-counter pain reliever can help, if the pain is really distracting. 4. Avoid acidic, crunchy, and other hot foods, or even very salty and spicy dressings. This will stop the burn from getting irritated further. 5. Squeezing Vitamin E from a capsule over the wound can speed up healing. It will regenerate new tissue and heal the wound. 6. Maintain good oral hygiene while your mouth is burnt, keeping it as clean as possible to promote healing and prevent further infection. Warm saline rinses can also be helpful. 7. Resist touching the burned area. This may be difficult, but by touching the affected area, the lesion may become irritated further. If It’s Not Feeling Better In A Few Days, Call Meadowlands Dental Office 905-304-1212. #nationalpizzaday See more

Healthy tooth enamel is the strongest substance that your body produces. In fact, enamel is stronger than any other substance on earth besides diamond! Although tooth enamel is the hardest substance in your body, it is the only part of the body that cannot heal itself. Therefore, it’s important to maintain good dental hygiene. Brush gently, don’t consume too many acidic foods and visit your dentist regularly!
