God’s Rich Supply The Apostle Paul wrote these words to the Philippian Church while he was a prisoner in Rome. Paul not only wanted to thank the Philippians for their generous gift to him but to encourage them in their walk of faith! Paul reminds the Philippians that God will generously supply their needs according to His riches in glory in Christ Jesus. I think it is worth remembering that God doesn’t supply for our every want, He supplies that which we really need! ...Our greatest need of course, is the Lord Jesus Christ who gave His life that we might put our faith in him just as the Philippians did and receive His forgiveness for our sins! God’s forgiveness opens for each one of us God’s riches in glory! I am drawn to this particular verse as my wife and I come to the end of our mandatory isolation period here in Manitoba! I jokingly refer to this as our release from prison! The reality is that during our time of isolation we have been the recipients of many gifts from fellow Believers who have delivered groceries, greetings and other gracious acts of kindness that have greatly encouraged us! We are indeed BLESSED! I believe this is in part, the point that Paul is making in Philippians 4:19 the Lord uses His Church to extend His riches in glory to others! Will you let the Lord use you to be a blessing to someone today? May the grace of the Lord Jesus Christ be with you Pastor Rick See more

We want to give a special thanks and blessing to Lorna Betcher for being apart of the Manitoba Baptist Home Society for 9 years! Not only did Lorna sit on the Board of Directors- she was also a weekly, faithful, volunteer in the Recreation Department. We wish you all the best on your retirement from the Board. Thank you for showing the staff and residents God’s love, through your servant heart. Did you know: Meadowood Manor was a mere dream in the early 1970’s of a dedicated group of Baptist church members in Winnipeg? Their vision was to build a residential facility that would care for elderly family members in our Manitoba Baptist Association conference. The facility would minister to the physical, spiritual, and social needs of those living there and would operate under a volunteer Board made up of supporting church members.

When Dad would call me to help put up the Christmas lights, I knew the Advent Season was well under way! We would begin by carefully unravelling strings of colored Christmas lights that always seemed to get tangled while in storage. Every light bulb was checked to make sure it ‘lit’ up, and, O yes, each bulb had to be in the correct color sequence red, green, blue, yellow and purple! Only then would Dad climb up the ladder and begin to attach the lights to the house.... My job was to gently pass along the light strings making sure there were no further tangles. Upon completion, Mom and my sisters would join us outside with steaming cups of hot chocolate for the ‘official’ first lighting! As brilliant colored light broke through the surrounding darkness, all my sisters and I could do, was stand back in childhood awe! Dad would then take the opportunity to remind us that the lights we worked to put on our home were there to point us to Jesus who is the Light of the world! Today, when I see brightly shining Christmas lights I’m reminded that whoever follows Jesus will not walk in darkness but will have the light of life. This Christmas, may all darkness be banished as Jesus is celebrated as the Light of the world! Peace and Joy! Pastor Rick See more

What is the basis by which you choose to satisfy your wants and needs? The Bible teaches that we contradict the Lord’s instructions when we seek to satisfy wants that are founded on selfish desires. When asked what the greatest commandment in the Law was, Jesus answered and said, You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. This is the great and first commandment. And a second is like it: You shall love your neig...hbor as yourself. (Matthew 22:37-39). Many of us know this second commandment as the ‘Golden Rule’ and recognize it as a life directive that puts the needs of others ahead of selfish indulgence. The Apostle Paul builds on these foundational truths as he reminds us, in the context of Philippians 4:10-19, that those who are generous towards God and others, will find that God is generous toward them. May the Lord abundantly bless you, as you seek to serve Him and those around you today! Blessings! Pastor Rick See more

My parents would often call a time out, in the course of a joyful family celebration in order to encourage us to ‘remember’ the occasion. We now look back on those times with a sense of profound gratitude as we recall the many sacrifices our parents made in order to ensure wonderful memories for the future! The Lord also admonished His people to ‘remember!’ In 1 Chronicles 16:12, the Chronicler instructs the nation of Israel to remember the Lord’s miracles of the pas...t and His promises for the future. When we, as God’s people, fail to remember the past we are in danger of forgetting the great things the Lord has done. It is important to know what is truly worthy of remembrance. Take Christmas for example some say it just won’t be the same this year. True, Christmas will be different but I believe we must understand what ‘different’ means. The family traditions and the secular trappings of the season will certainly be different from what we are accustomed to, but the message of Christmas hasn’t changed! So remember Jesus, our Savior, who is Christ the Lord! Worship and celebrate Him! What stands out as you remember past Christmas celebrations? Was Jesus at the center? Will the birth of our Savior be your priority this Christmas or will ensuring the continuity of past traditions take precedence? In the next few weeks I will share with you some personal ‘Christmas recollections’ in the hope they inspire you to remember JESUS! Blessings! Pastor Rick See more
