May 1st is Doctor's Day. Thank you for everything you do!May 1st is Doctor's Day. Thank you for everything you do!
The Botanical Florence Nightingales of Meaford Hospital No better time than Spring to share a special Thank You to our dedicated group of volunteer gardeners. In a conversation with one of our Botanical Florence Nightingales Lynn Munkley shared some history with us, Twelve years ago the grounds of Meaford Hospital were practically barren. Now beautiful gardens provide a healing atmosphere for patients, a respite space for staff, and beauty for all.... The gardens were created and have been lovingly cared for over those twelve years by a team of dedicated volunteers, at no cost to the hospital. Supplies, furnishings and plants are all donated, many of them dug from our own gardens. Every spring, we also hold a plant sale, and throughout the years, that sale was the only source of income we had to finance our efforts. That changed two years ago when we launched a renewal project featuring beautiful new flowers, new furnishings, tons of triple mix, mulch, and many hundreds of volunteer hours and sweat. As always, the people of Meaford stepped up with generous donations to help make it happen. Please drop by and enjoy the beautiful gardens created with love for our community. Thank you hospital gardeners! We all appreciate the beauty and fragrance of the gardens before entering our hospital, especially in these changing times. (Photos from 2019 pre-Covid19)
April 18-24 is National Volunteer Week! This past year, we have seen so many different challenges with Covid and the generosity of so many people within our community helping each other and supporting the Meaford Hospital Foundation and GBHS as a whole. Thank you for everything you do we are Stronger Together!... The National Volunteer Week theme for 2021 in Canada is - The Value of One, The Power of Many. It reflects on the awe-inspiring acts of kindness by millions of individuals AND the magic that happens when we work together towards a common purpose.
