A Prayer for the World in a Pandemic Loving and caring God, We have done everything we’ve been told: Worn masks, stayed home, gotten our shots... Isn’t it about time all this is over? Let us remember always that no, it’s not over; It’s not over for people in so many places we never think about: People whose lives were already a struggle Now overflowing with illness and loss and grief, And often with no masks, no shots, no way to stay safe at home. Remind us, God of the whole world, That the whole world is our family. That this won’t be all over until it is over for all. Tell Me a Story A project from our Sunday School: I am always happy when one of my grandchildren asks, Tell me a story, Grandma ! I developed this project to help us all to stay connected during these challenging times. Over the years, my grandchildren have often asked me to tell them stories of what it was like for me growing up. They are often amazed at the lack of technology and other social customs which appear quite unbelievable to them! So our Sunday School is goi...ng to create a small booklet of stories from their Parents, Grandparents and Great Grandparents and any members of our congregation who wish to be involved. I thought it would be interesting to hear different people’s experiences about the Sunday Schools that they attended growing up. If you want to be part of this his-tory project, the questions are simple. Your name, where you were born, your birth-day (optional), what church you attended and a short memory of what Sunday School was like for you. When I have the responses, I will type the answers and leave a space at the bottom of the page for our Sunday School kids to draw a simple illustration. Then I will copy the illustrated booklets which can be purchased for $5.00 each. All the proceeds will go to our Sunday School charity fund. I am going to en-courage our Sunday School kids to interview their parents and grandparents or an-other member of our church family. I also plan to conduct some interviews over the phone or by email. (offer your specific thanks) As I prepare now for my time of sleep, I place these things into your hands, (name worries, to-do items, concerns) I pray love and well-being for (name family, friends, situations near & far) This precious day now comes to an end. Some things are done; some things are not. Some things are out of my control. I leave it all in your care, Gracious God, knowing that you are with me, knowing that I can rest in you. Amen

Morning prayer shared from the United Church of Canada. Daily Prayer for an Extra-Ordinary Time Lover of Humanity, Creator of the Universe, who is known in cradle and cross, ... I pause in your presence this morning, seeking to deepen my relationship with you. Whisper today into my doubts and fears, into my worries and wonderings. Whisper into my human frailty and vulnerability. I breathe. (take three deep breaths) I enter this day in trust and in hope, knowing that your love is greater than anything that might or might not happen. I breathe. (take three deep breaths) As I follow the Way of Jesus today, I will watch for your guidance, your wisdom, your love, your presence along my path. May your Spirit inspire all that I do today. I breathe. (take three deep breaths) In this moment, I open my heart to all the members of my church community. (pause) I open my heart to my family (pause), my friends (pause) and my neighbours (pause). I pray for all those whose day will be challenging and difficult and all who are suffering. (pause) I pray for all the health-care workers and front-line responders around the world, and for our government officials that your wisdom might guide them. I commit myself to embrace the gift of life in all its fulness, even within the challenges of this time. Thank you for joining the Wandering Wisemen on their journey. In times of uncertainty, there is comfort in the ritual of anticipation. The trip may be difficult..., but our travelers always make it in the end. Just as we knew they would. The Wisemen's journey is over, but ours has just begun.
